Exhaust Mod Help!!

Car
2011 fx35
like everyone who's done an exhaust mod I'm on the fence of who to go with between Indivia & ARk...

Maybe I can get some help by staying my preference and someone could make their best recommendation...

My Infiniti is my daily driver... It's my family car... I'm looking to give the car a better purrr but at the same time not trying to wake my neighbors everytime I come around or be heard several blocks away... While in the cabin I would like to hear minimum noise but I know some is expected... I do not wanna sound too racey because I love the luxuriousness of the Fx35... All and all I just wanna do an exhaust mod and sound realistic not too out the box when I come up the block... I hate to be the person making all the noise going no where fast...

Responses are appreciated because I'd hate to spend a grip n not be satisfied...

Thanks in advance

Exhaust tone is subjective... you'll get different opinions from different people.

When I had the Invidia on mine 03 FX35, my kids (10, 9, & 7 years old at the time) said the sound from my car gives them a headache when they ride in the backseats. Now mine is 1st Gen, but I really don't think it make that much differences on the 2nd Gen. I too at time feel that it a bit loud and annoying.

The ARk... I had an opportunity to drive around in an 2012 FX35 with it on. I love the tone and the look. Its a little deeper throatier than the Invidia. To me, it has the same noise level in the cabin when I had the Invidia.

Both had a little drone too me.

Again, the above is strictly based on my person experience.

Thank you for the response... I appreciate the clarity... I'm on the fence myself I want the deeper sound but don't wanna send my family nuts when they ride with me... I would love the best of both worlds meaning deep sound but on the inside the ride isn't ass loud

thinking about getting an exhaust in the future. pretty torn between those 2 as well the invidia and ARK.

From that video above the ARK sounds amazing on it. but i too am concerned with drone/rattle inside the cabin.

Example: my friend has a twin turbo BMW with a loud exhaust (sounds amazing) but the drone was unbearable and it rattled so many things inside the cabin that would drive me nuts.

I heard both exhausts before I decided which one I wanted and I chose the ARK hands down as it sounds more deeper/throatier. Both are good exhausts but the only thing I didn't like about the Invidia is it drones a lot more.

Hey TrueLoyalty. I'm in the same boat as you. I'll probably get a lot of eyebrow raises, but I decided to go with an axle-back just to satisfy my need for a deeper/slightly louder exhaust.

I just purchased the Infiniti Sport Accessory muffler for the g37 (used a 25% off online code from OC Infiniti and saved $200), and will be extending the tips to fit my FX. To give you an idea of what it sounds like, here is a clip of it on a g37:

Here's another, but this guy has a supercharger so it will likely sound different:

I would love to see the end product when are you getting the work done? I'm leaning towards ARK at the moment just pray and hoping the drone and cabin noise is some what bare able... Has anyone ever considered one of these to help with the sound but have to option to switch back and fourth upon desire?

I just ordered the muffler a few days ago. It hasn't been shipped yet, but hoping to put it on next weekend. I'll post videos when it's all done.

I have a 1st gen FX with custom Invidia (bigger X-pipe & resonator) and though it's quieter than standard Invidia, it's still noticeable. Not much drone, but you know there is an aftermarket exhaust on the car. I've sound deadened most of the car and you can still hear the exhaust. It's really only under load though, most of the time for daily driving you don't notice it. But on the highway, some drone and at WOT, it's louder. Louder on startup than OEM but at idle, no real difference.

I also have a twin turbo BMW 335 with catless downpipes and Eisenmann exhaust. It's night and day and honestly compared to the BMW, the FX sounds stock. It booms on startup and once in a while will set off a car alarm in a parking deck. Drone isn't that bad most of the time but if I'm part throttle and not in boost, it's really loud because the wastegates are open. It's also really loud under WOT but surprisingly quiet at idle because the muffler has a valve/flapper. On deceleration, the pops and backfires are pretty loud too.

Just about any exhaust on the FX short of an exhaust delete is going to sound much closer to OEM than it would to a turbo BMW with aftermarket exhaust. Two different markets so the exhausts are going to have different characteristics.

I have the invidia gemini exhaust, cost like $800-$1000 cheaper then ARK and it sounds awesome

I personally love the sound of the ARK. However, exhaust and BBK are last on my list for upgrade projects.

Is the Sport Muffler the same as the IPL muffler. If it is then I can say it does sound a little more aggressive compared to the stock FX35 muffler on throttle but sounds like oem on idle and normal driving. No drone no rasp. I've had the full exhaust for about 3 years now. This is the family car so I think it was the right choice for me. The aftermarket exhaust will have to wait until I get either the Q60S or Q50S hopefully within this year or next year. Nwe project car.....Yeaay!!

From what I've read on the g37 forums, the IPL and Sport Accessory muffler are not the same. Check out this thread where a guy had a stock g37s, IPL g37, and g37 w/ sport muffler side by side:

Infiniti Sport Muffler sound like g35 - MyG37

quote from thread:
"Just got a 2013 G37S Coupe and added the sport muffler accessory directly from Infiniti. The service person placed my G37 w/ sport muffler next to a G37IPL and a G37S with stock muffler. The sport muffler blew away the competition. The sound is masculine, sharp and more even than with the either two vehicles. The other 2 mufflers sound like they are farting during heavy acceleration, sort of like the sound of the exhaust on the Mini Couper JCW. The sport muffler sounds great at start-up as well as during acceleration."

I see........hmm mm I like the idea that the sport exhaust is actually a sportier version of the IPL exhaust. This is definitely something I will have to do in the future along with the 370z Nismo H Pipe.
