This DIY will provide the steps to install the V3 Triton Switchback LED System into a 1st Gen FX.

6” Extension Cable from VLEDS.

You need to tab a length (12” - 16”) of wire to the RED wire of the extension cable. When this extra wire is power up with 12V source, it to light up the white LED. How I power this wire with 12V is from the black wire on the ignition switch connector behind the driver knee panel. So when the car is running the white LED will light up.

Once you done with adding the extra length of wire to the 6” extension, connect all the pieces together as in this picture below.

Pop the hood and twist the turn signal socket out of the back of the headlight, remove the bulb, and connect the VLEDS 7443/7440 Base Adapter into the turn signal socket.

The white wire from the kit needs to hook into the headlight wire ballast red wire. When this wire sees 12V, it dims the white LED down a notch. I strip off some sheathing to expose the bare wire and wrap and solder the white wire to it.

Test and tidy up the wire mess the best you can.

Another great write up. Gotta love switch-backs. This kit looks clean.

Nice write up, do you think this can work on a 2nd gen too? If so I can get the kit and I can come over one weekend and try it out.

Sick, I'm assuming this doesn't need the DTRL swap mod?

Thanks guys.
Ian, just added a video at the end of the original post. :good:
g0ld, no more DRTL Swap mod with this one.

Rip, as long as they have the base adapter and there is enough room behind the headlight housing, its should work for 2nd Gen as well. Stop by in the evening or weekend so I can take a look behind the headlights.

Hope to figure out running independent fog light on the 2nd Gen before Rip go back to Cali. That's the real reason he chose Aurora

Haha Andy is right that's why Im here. I def want to get the independent fog light done soon. Did you get a chance to check out the 2nd gen wire diagram?

Nice, I bought the non switchback because I sort of like turn sig in the daytime running light housing.

 I have, so far I see its very doable. I still need to find a couple wires on the BCM to be 100% sure.

I am with you there. I like the turn signal in the OEM DTRL location. I just bought a brighter LED bulb for it as well as a resistor. And I ordered the regular V3 for mounting in my new DTRL location.

Now the question becomes for me, if I do not wire that extra wire in, can I stop the car from dimming my DTRL when I turn on my headlights?
