Engine is dead at 114000km (70,000 miles) 2009 fx50

i know how it feels bud. infiniti of atlas, markham is two of the worst ive been to. They will do nothing for you. bunch of stuck up crooks.

That's just plain bad luck ...... I would definitely work on sourcing all of your receipts for service work .... this will only prove you serviced it and not how you drove it .... I am confident this will be what they try to fall back on ..... any other time of I have hear of similar situations the dealer always claims abuse by owner was reason for failure ........

I hope you get this resolved that's a lot of money to replace the engine .........

Probably can find a better deal though on a rear or side impacted FX50 for engine transplant if it comes to that.

Good Luck!

You could also try putting them on blast on their Facebook wall. I've seen people actually get taken care of on Infiniti's Facebook page more than calling actual customer service lol. They probably don't like the bad advertisement thats why......

wow that's horrible. Is it possible you may have had someone intentionally ruin your car, add something to the gas, etc? This just seems too unreal.

Cylinder misfire I've had on an expedition before and it was simply a sensor that needed replacing. I was sooo worried thinking that the truck was toast at like 120,000 miles or whatever, the truck was vibrating, knocking, it was really bad. simple sensor replacement and issue went away right away.

I have heard from head mechanics and others at Infiniti that our engines dirty up the oil and break it down FAST.....one reason I'm such a promotor of Pennzoil ultra with hyper cleansing technology. They even off a 500,000 mile warranty with this oil. Better than mobil 1 synthetic imo.

Hope Infiniti treats you right. There are some really really bad dealers and some great ones. I think you are at a bad one. Any chance another one is near you to get it towed to another one?

That sucks big time bro, hopefully everything works out in your favor in the end. I would blast them on their Facebook page like Aaron suggested. It may draw the negative attention you need to make someone with some say so notice.

Didn't know that, may look into Pennzoil Ultra on my next oil change.

I wouldn't even go "blast" their wall. There is a woman named Danielle who I believe runs the facebook page. She is the one that emailed me asking if I would consent to having our car be on the timeline of the homepage. She is really nice and is definitely willing to help out. I would write something like "yadda yadda yadda happened to me. Dealership is telling me they aren't going to help. Please help me out. Whoa is me, etc."
I think you will get an immediate response from them. Good luck with everything. Please keep us posted!

Thank you all for the great advice and support! I will absolutely be reaching out to Danielle on the Infiniti Facebook page.

I dont think someone would intentionally target me and do this. It just seems very random. One second cruising on the highway and the next knocking, bad vibrations, ses blinking and pulled over - and now a new engine? It makes not sense to me, but I will keep cool and absolutely fight this as far as I possibly can.

Thanks for the support Adeo. Im having all the service orders pulled and sent to me. Im going to build a case against the manufacture through the Canadian Motor Vehicle Arbitration Plan.

What about rebuilding the engine if all else fails?

Honestly this is just my opinion but if they did replace the engine I would just sell it not too long afterwards. Me and my OCD I believe nothing is the same like what is done at the factory. Lots of dealers cut corners with a job that big and things dont get done right. They really have a bad habbit of using impact guns to put bolts back on that should be torqued. Especially on a car like this it would bother me. But I'm just saying if they did have to replace the engine.

I love my truck and really thought the product was built to last longer then the 2 years I've owned the truck. Im very skeptical and not sure if I would purchase another one after this debacle. I also couldn't agree with you more about it just not being the same as it was.

Infiniti CanadaThank you, we want you to have the best experience possible with Infiniti and we'll work quickly to resolve this for you asap. I've connected with my team and they'll be contacting you soon.

nice! progress on the issue. I service my fx myself. When it comes to warranty claims, the dealer by my house will just say warranty doesn't cover it or its normal. After that, i told them to #$% off. Once and a while i get a phone call from them regarding sales or service and i tell them they suck. From what i heard, the Newmarket Infiniti is one of the better ones but i haven't gone there.

Guelph Infiniti is another Dealer that has given good service to friends of mine and myself.

I am not exactly sure why you think Infiniti needs to cover this but I hope it ends up working out for you regardless. I think you need to find out what happened to the engine itself. The mechanic probably found a lot of metal in the oil when they drained it, that is usually due to spun/destroyed rod bearings which is usually detonation related. Were you running premium fuel? Has your car been modified, specifically your ECU? Just saying the engine is 'dead' is a vague term and can be related to lots of issues, bent rods, broken pistons, broken crank, etc.. The amount Infiniti will fight you will depend on the cause of the failure. To help keep you happy they may offer to help you out but are under no obligation to cover this as disappointing as this is.

Again, hope it works out for you but find out what the failure is for sure.

Thanks for your post. Im looking for an answer to why this premium luxury vehicle I purchased as certified pre-owned, after 2 years of owning it, that I have to pay out of my own pocket on something this catastrophic. I understand that there is no obligation for them to help me (especially Alta Infiniti) but I would like to understand why this has happened and why so soon on a premium luxury vehicle like this. Would you not do the same if it were you in my situation being 4000km out of warranty?

Yes I put in Superclean from Petro Canada.

No - I've not done any modifications to the car at all.

Here's an update:

Stephanie from the CR dept at Infiniti Canada made contact with me last night. She asked me a few questions about my vehicle, my service history and if I had authorize the dealership to begin the tear down on the vehicle. I explained the situation with the dealership and that my experience with them has been poor - they hadn't offered me a rental vehicle so I've had no vehicle for almost 2 weeks now. She told me that she was still working on my case and would get back to me within the next few days with an update.

I've also been talking to CAMVAP about the arbitration on this case. Again - more waiting for them to organize the case with the manufacture to come to an agreement.
