Calling out all kido coilover owners

Hey guys,
i just upgraded HandR's to kido racing coilover (thanks chedman13) I was wondering about the rear shock adjustable extenders. Its an option that Mark from kido sells it allows you to adjust the rear shocks without removing them. My question is how do you install them does anyone have pics or can maybe explain how there are installed?

You have to drill a at least a 1/2 inch hole through the top of where the shock cup is mounted to and then drill a 1/4 inch hole through the inside trims right around the rear seat back and the rear wheel hump. I'll post up some pic where it is located in the trunk when I get home in the evening.

^ Extenders like above is the only way to do it. Even with them installed, it's still kind of fussy and difficult to adjust still. You pretty much have to just "set it and forget it" for the rears.

Yep. I set mine to full soft for the break-in period (a couple thousand miles) and might bump them up a bit when I lower the rear more. In reality it's not THAT bad to adjust it with the normal adjusters. Just put it up on jack stands, support the lower spring bucket, and disconnect the upper shock mount. lower the jack a bit, adjust damping, and put it back together. Not really a piece of cake but not exactly difficult either.
 
Yep if you can install them, you can adjust them. Still have mine set all the way to soft in the back. I'm at the lowered max, no complaints.
 
hey guys, thanks for the replies. I had mine setup at 15 up from soft and was to soft for me. How to you have yours setup all the way down plus your super slammed? Am I doing something wrong?
 
I found the rear of the car very bouncy. even when I accelerated it felt like the rear of the car would drop down. can you guys share with me your setting if your using KIDO'S.

also how well did you get the rear camber to straighten out? its pretty negative right now cant to go for alignment in a week or so
 
Three choices on camber issue, add a camber kit, raise it up a bit until it is closer to spec OR maintain the drop, run it as is and replace your rubber a bit sooner than usual.

I never adjusted my rears, just set it firm.

To me ride quality was more important in the front.
 
I have a rear camber kit already installed on the car for my previous suspension but just looking at how negative it is and wondering if the rear still has enough adjustment :smile (2):
 
If you have a camber kit installed, you'll probably have enough adjustment. If they can even get close and just get your toe back into spec, your tires will be fine.
 
hey guys so after a little over a week with my coilovers they surprised me today. I was under the impression that they came from factory with preload already, well I found out today they didn't. My wife has been driving the car for the last 2 days and today she called me saying the car was making front end noise going over any little pumps on the road. So she gets home I pull of the tires and sure enough I was able to shake the spring on both drivers and passenger side. I remember when I got them I just hand checked everything and it felt snug the coil was actually lose this time. I added 6mm of preload to the coilover. after putting the wheels back on I just decided to check the bolt on top and the drivers side was also loose with a 5mm allen key and 21mm socket I tightened it down. So after putting away everything and taking the car for a test drive it was back to new again the only thing I noticed was when I was parking the car it makes a coil popping noise when Im turning the wheel. any Idea what that might be? point of the story check the preload when installing.

Ive had coilovers on previous cars and they never made noise. They were Tein brand.

the stock torque spec for that nut would be 58lbs? I have mine to 60 I believe is that to much?
I spoke to Mark from KIDO and he told me to try 3mm preload so that's what im going to try now hopefully it will work.
