Muffler delete video. (Finally!!)

OK so I been promising a video of my muffler delete for quite some time and I finally gave in and made a video that is so much less stellar than what I want to put together. I'm always so busy but when the weather warms up I will post a better video, with a better take off, and a simultaneous video clip from inside the car and from a side view. It started raining on me so I had to stop the video before I got a chance to do any revving so I didn't destroy my camera. So I guess we will call this a teaser video lol. Anyway here it is:

By the way, how do I embed videos directly onto my post so it doesn't appear like a link? I tried to use the "EMBED" html code for the video but when I post it, the html code actually posts/shows as text.

Gotta love that V8 sound. Can't go wrong with a muffler delete if you dont want to drop money on a full exhaust (or are waiting for one, etc)
I did the same.

Lol I still remember that random video where you were spotted and you could hear your car over the police sirens

Wow ................ that sounded sexxxy !! Hmmmmm ........... might be something I'd do for my next mod :smile (2):

Sweet! Thanks for posting! So are you happy with the sound? Anything you don't like?

I love the sound, very happy with it. It sounds so much better in person. In fact I will back the camera up in my next vid so it's not sitting in the pipes lol and I will do an in cabin clip of the sound also. I like it so much that as far as FX's go the only exhaust I've heard that I like better is the clip someone did with the Ark Grip on the 2nd gen FX 35. That is the only exhaust I would spend money on being that this mod is so effective (for desired sound). Since no Ark Grip for FX 50 this will stay.

Thanks. My friend just did this to his 2nd gen 35 and he loves it. Obviously it doesnt sound exactly like this, it's only going to make what you already have sound more aggressive. Great inexpensive alternative to changing the muffler and tips.

so you just removed both mufflers and put straight pipe in its place? How much did the whole thing run?

It's only one muffler that gets removed. The resonators and everyghing else remain stock. Here is the muffler that gets removed. The main and as far as I know it the only muffler.

So those rust colored pipes run into the bottom of this muffler. The muffler was removed at the flanges that attach it to the rust colored pipes. The muffler is secured to the flanges with four bolts. Once the bolts are removed from the flanges, the muffler is only secured to the car by the stock hangers. This mod can be done with absolutely no cutting (of stock equipment) if you choose to do so. If you chose not to do any cutting you would simply have to order new oem or aftermarket tips for the new pipe sections. In my case I had the stock tips cut off of the muffler and welded onto the new pipes. A Meineke did it for me for $130.00. It would cost considerably more if you went to a custom exhaust shop. Meineke did a great job I will probably eventually get mandrel bends like JBaker did now that I know I'm keeping it, but thats after I finish with ALL my other mods.

Another shot of the pipes being fitted. If you look under the back of your car then look at this pic you should be able to see exactly what was done.

What's the benefit of mandrel bends versus just the pipes from Meineke? Looks like they did a fantastic job!

Mandrel bending is smoother and keeps the overall diameter better than crush bending. A smoother flow results in more power and panties dropping.

Sounds good bro.

I heard Kenny's FX50 muffler delete in person it sounds awesome but way too loud in my opinion. It's even louder than my Megan exhaust on my G with a straight pipe mid section and I think that's loud lol.

So shops like Meineke do mandrel bending? Would it be just a matter of paying extra for it to be done that way?

Like PMG said the mandrel bend is when a pipe is bent without being crushed in a little to achieve the bend. In essence it's supposed to allow the air to flow unrestricted by not having to squeeze past a crushed bend. If you look at the last pic ^above^ when they were working on my 50 the pipes are crushed in at the points where they both bend in order to achieve the bend. Examples:

Meineke did do a fantastic job but the bends could be a little cleaner, for $130 they did a damn good job. No, Meineke does not do mandrel bending, most shops don't. The machine used to do it is very expensive and so even a lot of high end shops will take measurements or fabricate a replica of what they need using cheap pipes, then order mandrel bends from a shop that does it.

No way dude, I saw the video clip of your Megan exhaust and there is no way my 50 is as loud as that, and I had my work done by the same shop Kenny did. Unless your video clip slightly over exaggerates the sound of your Megan, my 50 is not that loud. Maybe on a cold start, and that's a maybe but as soon as it reaches normal idle speed it quiets down a bit. I wish my 50 sounded like your Megan lol.
