Met a crazy Civic Si driver on my way to work...

This morning, when I was on my same old routine to send my daughter to daycare and then to work, there was this reckless driven White Civic Si going like a race car, getting honked all over the way. Then the driver tried to cut me really close and almost hit my car. So I honked at him and understood why I heard some many incidents of honking in the past few minutes. (This guy was coming from behind) So I got pretty pissed but hell, there was not much I can do...(except hit him? not worth it:tongue:)
The funny thing was, somehow every red light (even though he was cutting through the traffic, it ended up with no difference:rotfl:), I pulled right behind him. Another coincidence was that, he was on the same way as I was going even going to the smaller streets. So at one corner, maybe he was pissed, he came down and snap a shot of me in my car. To be frank, I was scared and wondering what I should do if he came down with a gun....you never know? And I would like to get your advice if this really happened? People behind us were all honking at him and he kept on going very slow and then stopping right away to block me. Another coincidence was since this was really close to the Vernon Hills Police Station. A cop car just came by and saw his crazy move, so he was talking to the cop about me trying to hit him:eek.:....Then he left and the cop came to talk to me...After the cop seeing my daughter on my car, we both gave each other a laugh and I recommended the cop should go after him about his reckless driving style.

Anyway, this just made me think that it is so easy to piss off people on the road and make them do crazy and dangerous things, what's the best way to avoid it?

That's crazy man. At the end of the day, nothing is more valuable than you and your family's life. Sure, we react in such a way when somebody is being a prick on the road but it is a battle not worth picking. Do not dignify his antics and if you chance by him on the road, avoid any confrontation. I hope you had his plate number too and it would not do any harm to do a police report if you feel really threatened. My 2 cents.

I drive in the ATL. So,I would drive as I normally do and do not honk at anybody,no matter how stupid they drive!! Some people will take that as a form of threat ,especially like in your case where the guy thought you was following him. I treat the drivers like i do any strangers, best to avoid them and do not have any confrontation with anyone. Hell, some people will shoot people over loud music and push people in front of subway trains when angry. Next time, just shake your head and leave the crazy drivers alone. Do Not Honk!!, unless you need to get their attention. Which you probably do not want.

Most of the time I give them plenty of room and try to stay away from the idiots. You know give em enough rope to hang themselves.
But on a few occasions I just couldn't help myself. I have been driving the mountain roads up here for over 35 years and know every corner and exactly how fast I can take them. We have what I call freeway flyers that have no clue how to drive on twisting turning mountain roads they ride the brakes on every corner and speed on every straightaway never using any turnouts.

I was on my way down the mountain one day and came up on a car that was slowing to 15mph on every corner the speed limit was 55mph.This A Hole would speed up to 70 at every passing lane and slam the brakes at every corner and of course he would not use any of the turnouts.
This is when the awesome power of the FX came in handy I flew past him at one of the passing lanes and then slowed to the speed limit 55. This A Hole then got right on my bumper and continued tailgating me with his brights on(this was at night).
So I went just fast enough where he could just keep up in the corners ;)
I knew we were coming up on a sharp corner so I accelerated and flew through the corner. I watched in my rear view as he sped up to stay on my ass and I watched him slam into the mountainside behind me.:vader:

Wait.. he walked over to your car and took a picture of you..?
I believe he is trying to get my plate number....maybe he really thought I was going to hit him and run...while I was just trying to get to my daughter's daycare....

LOL...that was awesome....does the guy have something like a Civic SI too?

You ever know who you gonna encounter on your daily commute and unfortunately some people get behind the wheel when they shouldn't. It's not only the ones under the influence but also when they are emotionally distracted or late for work!

Nothing worst than seeing a driver who is not only putting himself in danger but also other drivers and their families.

I had a very similar situation on my way to work one morning. You could tell the kid in his Accord was late for something and was cutting people off, over passing them on the shoulder or street decider, going through gas stations to skip the light. All this crazy driving and I was still catching up to him on all major intersections he couldn't get around using his "tricks". Guess driving a big orange pumpkin of mine with my bright lights aggravated him and he decided to tail gate me for a while. Now I could of easily loose him but didn't want it to turn into some crazy road rage episode. I finally just pulled to a side in front of Starbucks making it look as if I wanted some coffee and let him pass by. I watched and made sure he wasn't stuck on the next lights. Then I just continued on my way.

Even though I was so compelled to let him know he was driving like an ass, I know that he would wether flip me off or do something crazy.

So I try to just avoid them and avoid the confrontation and hope they will get to their final destination in one piece.

The only time I engage another driver is when they drive with lights off and it's freaking dark. That I cannot let pass by me.

Just glad he took a pic of you and nothing else. Especially with your daughter still in the car.

That was evil but so brilliant:). Think he learnt his lesson? Ha

That's what really scare the sh** out of me. Anything could happen...and this was really just a coincidence that I always pulled behind him because we were going the same way. I was glad there was a cop close by too.

For a quick draw, there is always that friendly short maglite closeby.

So you got arrested because of the maglite or you got arrested and the subsequent search revealed the mag light?

Really? :eek.: I always carry one in my glove compartment in all my cars for emergency use. I don't see anything wrong with it.

i got stopped for know apparent reason, i guess they were pinning guys down for illegal drugs that night. They told me my exhaust is loud (stock oe no mod exhaust). They ran my plates, name and etc(found nothing). After 15 mins they asked if had drugs then they saw a maglite half away under the passenger sit. They asked me to get out, got handcuffed. At the end they let me go, i told them i want to speak with your supervisor. They kept stalling and finally said ur free to go
