Seat Finish Peeling Off

you think if i take my car there they take car of my chair squeaking i hate it, also my drivers side mirror is loose also..

Maybe it was the leatherique that damaged it?

exactly my thoughts. Aaron- you left the leatherique product on way too long and under too much heat. I understand the longer and hotter it is the better it works, well dam it worked too good in your case. It sucks, but I'm confident this is the reason it happened. You saying that you don't wear out that piece is just another piece of evidence that it is the leatherique you doing it for 2-3 days or whatever under that much heat is what caused it on top of the fact that you said it was just dirt there so obviously the leatherique worked harder there.

Called the service department and told them and they said that's not normal and said they will take a look tomorrow morning. Service manager will take care of it.

I had a problem with a peeling speedometer piece a month ago and they replaced it no questions asked. I'm on good terms with Infiniti of massepequa so hopefully it gets taken care of.

peeling speedometer? Crazy man you are getting bad luck after bad luck with your FX. :eek.:

I agree Aaron is just loving his car to death, he has had trouble with the Finish on the dash, the seats, the woodgrain, and I don't know what else. They are all dying from too much chemical reactions

Yeah I agree and feel bad... :disapointed:

My wood trim didn't peel that was Jonas  That issue there is a tsb on it. Thankfully I haven't had that lol a lot of members have experienced that. I think you guys should understand that it's important to report these issues to Infiniti because that's how TSB's are issued. Nothing that's happened was my fault.

Trust me it isn't the leatherique though. Things like this are what's leading me to buying an extended warranty.

The wood grain was peeling when I bought the car with 26k miles. I bought it from the south. My theory is this: FXs that have been in tremendous HEAT or humidity will experience this more and increase chances of this happening.

When I'm home, I keep my car in the garage. Plus, the car is up north with me now and I had all the pieces replaced under warranty, but I'm just saying I doubt Wayne will ever have the problem because of the normal temps he has in Canada. And for those more south I would in fact want it to pool now rather than when I have 150k miles on the FX or something and it won't be replaceable under warranty. After humidity and after heat and after a few years, I'm sure it will eventually peel...you're better of getting that done now than when you can't anymore.

seeeing this makes me angry typical infiniti crap leather/vinyl. When will they learn to use some leather like bmw uses or mbenz

I test drove an Audi S5 yesterday and the leather was sub par compared to ours. Way worse quality. Plus all the knobs were peeling. It was a 2009. Our FXs feel way more luxurious ride and feel inside imo, how the doors shut with a thump, etc. You tend to forget how nice our 2009+ FXs are until you sit in other cars.

I thought they use only fake leather called MBtex? Could be wrong lol

Aaron, if you are a fish, I'm a whale in comparison and I'm not having problems with my seats. I've gone 26k miles to now 60k miles. My humongoes fat as touching the side seats and I fidgid is not causing these to my seats, but I also don't clean my seats with leatherqiue that long. I only did it once and only waited 2 hours and did it when it wasn't very hot and still in my garage worrying for this exact reason.

However, I hope they replace this for you.

After all this I definitely recommend the extended warranty for your ride Aaron.

Jonas, I didn't leave the leatherique on for too long. I ended up removing it off the driver side seat because the car had to be moved into the driveway and I had to end up wiping it off.

I think you should remember that leatherique rejuvinator oil is not a cleaner it's just a condition. So to say for it to remove the finish off the seat is impossible. Let's just say if somehow the leather finished was destroyed by the leatherique it would of been the prestine clean which by the way I didn't get to use and that's also impossible to remove the finish. I had to use just a wet microfiber cloth.

We came to the conclusion that no chemical did this. It was the stitching in between where the seat cushion is joined together is the cause of the stress on the leather. Notice in my pictures the finish came off in perfect straight lines?

By the way even the manager agreed it's the stitching being pull too tight on the leather causing it to fray which is why they want to fix it on their part. Here is the same picture for reference again:
