Seat Finish Peeling Off

After cleaning my seats and wiping the dirt away I noticed the leather on the seat surface was peeling off :disapointed::disapointed:

I didn't do anything to the leather it just started happening. The funny thing is I don't even sit or slide on the bolster when getting out. I weigh only 165 pounds. I'm thinking about taking it to the dealer to see if they will cover it under warranty but I don't want to get told it's wear and tear :disapointed:My beautiful leather seats look terrible now. I didn't even notice it before because the seats were dirty.

Sorry to hear that Aaron. Sad to say I have a spot like that. I was a bit too aggressive with the cleaning and I peeled off the top layer. This will be classified as normal wear and tear unfortunately.

Damn that sucks man. Did you try going to the dealer about it?

Mine was already like that but the dirt was covering it up so I didn't even noticed it till the seats were clean. :(

Didn't go to the dealer as I knew that's wear and tear. The leather may be soft or lower quality, but it is what it is.

That sucks man! I gotta say, the only thing that ever really disappointed me with my previous FX was the quality of the leather and a few of the other plastic interior bits. I tried to keep the seats moisturized but they developed some serious cracks/wrinkles. I still love my FX and it didn't stop me from buying a second one, but I'll be the first to admit that my brother's Lexus has a higher quality interior.

this the first time i cleaned it in a long time actually. It's why I didnt catch this earlier

I've used leatherique many times on my other rides and it never did this. I don't think the leatherique did it.

Called the service department and told them and they said that's not normal and said they will take a look tomorrow morning. Service manager will take care of it.

I had a problem with a peeling speedometer piece a month ago and they replaced it no questions asked. I'm on good terms with Infiniti of massepequa so hopefully it gets taken care of.

That's good news! I wonder if the leather peeling is a common issue? Something I'll have to keep an eye on.

Thanks man. I'm not sure if it's a common issue. People probably think I'm the only one with issues like these but a lot of times fellow IS members have these same issues I do and they PM me about it instead of posting. So sometimes it seems like I'm the only one with these issues but that isn't the case.

I just hope they replace it. Since I have the cooled seats a replacement seat cushion is $5,200 :-0

I'd like to take the time to bring up a valid point here that I'm going to explain to the manager tomorrow. Why would the outer part where the bolster is at wear out and peel off when I don't even sit on it or yet alone touch it? How come the part that I sit on and come in 100% contact with everytime I'm in the car has no wear what so ever, but the outer portion where the seam is has peeling on it?????? If it was wear and tear how come the part I'm sitting on doesn't have wear and tear? If anything the part I sit on should be wearing and it's not. That means there is some sort of defect here with the bolstering on the side. My passenger side has no peeling and there is always a passenger in the seat.

See no wear on the middle section that I DO come in contact with:

Its probably because your constantly cleaning your leather:wink:
I agree Aaron is just loving his car to death, he has had trouble with the Finish on the dash, the seats, the woodgrain, and I don't know what else. They are all dying from too much chemical reactions

My wood trim didn't peel that was Jonas  That issue there is a tsb on it. Thankfully I haven't had that lol a lot of members have experienced that. I think you guys should understand that it's important to report these issues to Infiniti because that's how TSB's are issued. Nothing that's happened was my fault.

Trust me it isn't the leatherique though. Things like this are what's leading me to buying an extended warranty.

I know you take excellent care of your ride Aaron, and that's good it wasn't you with the woodgrain problem. I don't do much for interior preventive maintenance and cleaning myself, I should do more.

seeeing this makes me angry typical infiniti crap leather/vinyl. When will they learn to use some leather like bmw uses or mbenz
