Reprogram Your TPMS - DIY

This is strange...
My summer set has oem TPMS. While on, car was programmed for these TPMS.
Then, I got a new winter set with EZ-sensor. On installation, they programmed the car for these new TPMS.
For some reason, I had to put the summer's back. I thought I'd had to reprogram again, but not, it picked them up back.
All this time I thought the car would keep only 1 set of TPMS.

I got it!
The ECU does keep 1 set (4 tpms).
They just programmed the EZ-sensors with the oem ID's

Attempted 3 times. Each time the fx set into "learn" mode but coasting over 40+ mph for 10-15mins didn't work. Also did a grounding reset in between attempts.

Ordered a tpms activation device (EL 50448) and see it that can pair my new set of tpms.

TPMS DIY grounding trick (placing the FX in relearn mode) and this EL-50448 worked, I see PSI's are all accurately displayed after first attempt. The most difficult part is finding a 9V battery for the tpms device. No warning lights on cluster.

Good source for 9V battery: household smoke detector. The reason I know this is 2 have gotten low recently so I ripped them out since it always happens in the middle of the night and makes me angry.

Does this work for OEM sensors as well? You said new set so I wasn't sure if OEM or aftermarket.

I was able to find an used 9V battery from my Multimeter unit. My smoke detectors are all triple A (at least the new ones I got from home depot).

From what I gather, this EL-50448 would for multiple types of manufactures/models/mhz.
Gen1 fx are known to be: 315 MHz (Oem or aftermarket should work the same) , mine were OEM (at least I think it is)

Hello
Seems to be an easy question but I am totally lost!
Decided to replace 4 tpms on my car because one is reading ** on screen. Also I don't want to go to the dealer as they charge 45 USD only for diagnostics.
So would like to get the above device and googled for it. Could you be so kind to explain the programming process for new tpms sensors and which sensor to buy.
Googled for
40700-CD001

and got two options:

oem.jpgand orange.jpg

which one to choose?

Also I spotted that your device has grey button but ebay offers green
Also ebay says this EL50448 works with GM cars only. Is it true?

Please advice which one to choose.
Thanks a lot.

After viewing your post, your FX is a 2007 model so Blue color tpms will be compatible. Also the Orange brand if at 350mhz would also work from what I had heard from other FX owners.

Either way, the TPMS tool EL-50448 should work. Doubt the button being GREEN or GREY makes any difference.

Have you placed your FX into learning mode? Only then the EL-50448 will work. The directions on these youtube vids are straight forward:

https://youtu.be/DKmRkgMB9rE (same process, eventho Chevy is being demo'ed, infinit will not show lights or honk noise)

just realized the photos from Deeto are no longer hosted. I've saved a PDF back in 2012, should be helpful.

Thanks!
So if I get this EL device, all I need is to put tpms into learning mode? No need to set different pressures and drive on a highway?

I'm so glad I read this before taking my FX to dealer. This saved me $$$$. Thanks.

can any TPMS be programmed with our FX? can I have more than 1 set programmed to work with my car? I ask because the winter rims im purchasing (from a M35x) owner come with TMPS, and I want to keep my current sensors for the summer rims of course.

You can have more than 1 set of TPMS.
Check this out:
ATEQ QuickSet
ATEQ TPMS QuickSet - Programming TPMS sensors

I have been using it for a couple of seasons for my summer and winter setups, and it's been working great.

wow another year gone...
got my sensors replaced. reprogrammed for 20 usd no hassle with all the wires and pressures

Every time when I use these instructions, I've been telling myself to mount a momentary switch to ground that "add-on" wire to tidy up the wiring!
Anyhow, use these instructions to program my winter tire set onto my 03 FX45 last night:
1) Set the tire pressure as directed: FL 34#, FR 31#, RR 29#, & RL 26#.
2) Start the car with car engine running, tap that "add-on" wire to body ground 5 times.
3) Watch for the tire pressure warning light flashes continuously on the dashboard.
3) Drive it around for about 10 minutes on local street. My maximum speed was 45 mph (during the drive, I have stop signs and stop lights).
4) You will hear 1 beep in about 2 minutes into the drive, then 2 beeps, then 3 beeps, & then 4 beeps.
5) Voila, tire pressure readings are now displaying on screen.
