My Turn for the Akebono BBK

guess u're asking me that question?

Original OEM "infiniti" on the caliper or the one I stenciled?

I remembed the original oem calipers were also stenciled and painted. I'm sure other who had sanded theirs can chime in.

i finally got around to finishing the install, since there wasn't a definite answer on wether or not the stock 18's would clear, the definitely clear, with a 25mm spacer. I'll upload finish pics with the whole car later, this heat is killing me!

I'm planning on doing the same combination of Akebonos and those stock 18's. Does the spacer have to be 25mm or will 20mm work? Also what would the max spacer be on a 1st gen with stock 18's. I want to steer clear of any rubbing

+1 on using Zeckhausen for the banjo bolts. I ordered a couple of days ago and they were at my door when I got home today.
Which banjos did you guys order, there's two kinds for our 1st gen infiniti's

20 mm spacers will clear with no problem with the 18" stocks ( I have that setup)
I have used the 772.21707 without problem.

Did you install the StopTech SS brake lines also?

You got a point, makes me wonder too considering the bolt for the stoptech calipers is 10mm compared to the bolt for OEM calipers at 18.75mm. So is there two versions of the brakelines depending if they're used for OEM calipers or stoptech branded calipers.

Maybe the 10mm one works fine with our OEM brakelines...

Jimmy,

Do the spacers have to be 20mm? For fun I bolted up the caliper to one side and then bolted the 18" rim on. There's 2mm space between the face of the caliper (where the INFINITI logo is) and say 6mm between the widest part of the caliper and the inside of the rim. Would 10mm be just fine? I just wonder what the reasoning is behind 20mm spacers...I see that a few members used those.

It looks like either banjo will work. The hole depth where the banjo bolt goes in the caliper is 10mm itself. The brake line part takes up about 8-9mm itself, that's already 19mm. Add 2 washer sto that. So it looks like either bolt will work. Since turbo mentioned you have to drill the banjo bolt to create a bezel, I think the 18.75 version of it will be better since it is shorter and won't have to drill it.

If you get the stoptech SS line, it automatically comes with the right banjo bolts. As for the spacers, I have roughly 5 mm of clearance with the 20 mm spacers. So 15 mm would be really close and I would not risk.

Hrm, I wish I could see yours in person or at least a photo...I don't have any spacers on and i have 3mm clearance but if I added 20mm spacers I should have 23mm of clearance at that point, but you have 5mm so something does not add up. maybe the fx50 rotors are thinner causing less spacing?

What about 25mm spacers? Is that too wide and a concern of rubbing fenders?

I would say so. I just put on my 20" Axis Orden (literally, 30 mins ago) and I run 25mm spacers, and the rims stick out quite a bit. Take a look at my garage, those are sport OEM 20" rims with 25mm spacers.
