FX 50 owners....I need your advice

50 owners;
I've got my eye on a used '09 50 at a local dealership. 11K miles and pic's look great. Any words of warning/caution?

watch out for the Peeling Wood Trims, Transmission Reflash, Fading front brake pads, and compact flash reader eating your finger. :smile (2):

should be a huge difference from a FX35, good luck.

I upgraded recently and haven't looked back. Going from a 1st gen to a 2nd gen will be a huge difference in terms of power, handling and luxury. Do it! Just make sure to get a good deal!

Drove the 50 last night. Like the added punch but for a vehicle that has 11K miles on it, it was rough. Sil plates scratched, rear bumper scuffed, wood grain worn....just not well looked after. Disappointing actually.

damn they could have at least detailed or reconditioned it before they put it up for sale that's a shame they lost a new buyer

If your trying to cut a deal with them instead of getting the price lowered why not try and get them to replace the scratched parts?

Having recently purchased an FX50. I recommend the following:

1. Qualify whether you want the FX50S vs. FX50. Not sure since you did not qualify?
2. Qualify whether you want the technology package?

I looked at two FX50s' (NON "S", NON Technology). While very nice, I am a gadget geek and like fully optioned vehicles. I like the Sport mode suspension and the seats on the "S" MUCH better than the non "S". The Technology package has a TON of options for the price actually. My favorite aspects are the active cruise, rain sensing wipers (cant believe they dont have those anyway) and seatbelt pre-tensioners.

Either way, they are very nice cars!

The reflash issue is real. I am not sure how many are affected. That being said, I made the 1st Gen to 2nd Gen jump and I am not looking back. The difference in throttle response is very apparent. The ride is actually a bit better and if you get the 'S', you really are able to experience the 390 horses in their full glory.

Good luck!

Bought mine from an Infiniti dealer and the reflash was already completed. Confirmed with service department which by the way, is the best service department I have ever dealt with! I lucked out on this dealership.

The two 50's I looked at at non-Infiniti dealerships clearly did not have the reflash after I learned about it. On that note, be sure to give any 50 you test drive a good high RPM run in a few gears, if it falls flat on its face up top, chances are the reflash has not been completed ;)

I bought my 2009 50S with 5400 miles on it in 2010 for $49k. This is my 5th Infiniti so I didnt have a problem with the brand. This is the nicest vehicle I have ever owned. Stomp on the throttle and your stomach feels like your on a roller coaster going down the largest drop. My understanding of the AWD is that it is always engaged from 0 to 12 MPH so you dont get any tire squeel. No problems with anything, dont know if a re flash was done or not, there is nothing to complain about plus it is still under warranty. I dont have the peeling wood trim problem but if yours is still under warranty they will fix it N/C. Two of my sons who drove it (one has a G37 and S2000 and the other a Trailblazer SS) said it was TOO nice! Hope you get a good price, obviously you will have to pay to fix the scratches yourself.

Hate to beat a dead-horse here but keep checking about the (version) with the dealer. I too bought from a very reputable Infiniti dealer as well. My 2nd purchase with them. Aside from pre-sale prep, my vehicle has been reflashed multiple times each time with a later version including one done 2 days ago. So far so good on this one.

I believe that the re-flash is on the "third generation" as of now which is the one I have. The service department confirmed that my car has the latest re-flash as of last Saturday. I will take it in in the next few days to have the ambient temp sensor and fuel gauge sensors installed. I will inquire about a "newer" re-flash then.

My service department is the bomb! I lucked out even more since my service advisor and the service manage both own and ride sportbikes and I make sportbike parts. I showed them some "love" last weekend with some parts and next thing I knew they were showing me all the "restricted" areas of the service depatment and we were watching youtube videos of sick fast GTR's in the service department.
