Roof cross bars

Thanks guys, now if just another 2012 can chime in and say they have different colored rails and bars, like the pic above from da mayor, I think we can say for sure that 2012s have changed the rail color.

Da mayor, can you see the differences between the years at the dealership? Has any customers also complained? I can not be the only one with a 2012 pissed off at this...

Spine Doc :smile (2): I have a 2012 and both the rails and bars are indeed the same color silver. Just an FYI

Thanks Elaine, if not too much bother, would you be so kind enough to post a pic of the bars (at junction where bars meet the rails) so I can see if they are just close in color, like mine, or if in fact they are exactly the same.
I just want some proof when I go to the dealer to inquire.

Also, some of you think da mayors pic show them as the same but in fact they are not... as stated before, the bars are slightly darker

Spine :smile (2): my bad !! I had always thought that these were the same clors since I've only looked at them from afar however when I went outside to take the pictures that's when I noticed " wtf they ARE indeed different colors " !! Granted they're both Silver in color but two obvious shades of Silver !! It really doesnt bother me that much since its only noticable if you look very closley !

I'll post pictures when I get home once my shift is done !!

Thank you all so much for proving that I am not crazy! Based on your input, I Did purchase the "silver" crossbars b/c according to da mayor, the graphite are blackish in color. The pic you posted looks like mine that I installed exactly. I guess Infiniti just really dropped the ball with these cause it appears they are just using the bars, or at least the paint, as the ones for the EX cause they match the EX rails and bars. So Im stuck with unmatched rails and bars which really pisses me off. 50K for a car and I cant get $300 bars to match? Unreal...

JBaker, thanks for the offer but if your bars look like the ones in the pic, I might as well keep the ones I have. But thanks again.

da mayor, you work at Massapequa? I purchased 2 QX4s from there years ago. Nice dealership and I believe John Ippolito was the salesman, doubt he is still there. But being on North Shore now I use Manhasset.

that was years ago. Did i meet you at the FX meet when we had it at Fort Totten? You had a vanity license plate? I had the Autumn Copper FX45 back then!

Elaine.... THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! Finally someone to prove my sanity! I know. WTF? I guess they dont care about our 2012 matching up? Even though some may think this is a trivial point, I take extreme pride in my vehicles and its actually the little things like this that drive me crazy! Again, 50K for a car and I cant get matching bars? But thanks again so now I can rest easier knowing others are the same :top:

Da mayor, sorry but Ive never been to any meets. Only had my FX for a couple months so never met you. If you were at Massapequa back in 98 or 01 I might have when purchasing my QX4s, dont know what your position is there.

No worries !! I can't speak for all 2012's but yours and mine are certainly two different shades of Silver !?!?

If you look close at the back of the rails you'll be able to see that these are different shades of Silver as well !

The ones I have for sale are SILVER, not the darker color.

I am interested in them but are they really not the color in the pics? Being you have an 09, your rails are darker than our 2012s so the bars will look lighter, relative to ours, being they are not next to the lighter rails? Geez, this is making me dizzy..LOL

I doubt Infiniti made two different "silver" crossbars

Have had my '09 FX for a couple of weeks now and the roof rails are really the only thing that bothers me. The car didn't come with the cross bars. I really don't see myself using the rack if I had the bars, so how hard is it to remove the rails? Has anyone done it?

To remove the roof rails your going to need to take down a part of the headliner and reach up under to unbolt it. But then your going to have holes in your roof where the bolts to the rails use to be which means you would need to take it to a bodyshop to have them filled in and resprayed I believe.

They're silver. Check my for sale thread.

Thanks, on second thought maybe I can learn to luv them like the rest of the car:tongue (2):

i'm not a gen2 owner, but from what I remember when Hollywood removed his rails, it was just popping off the 4 rail caps and removing 8 bolts. The roof will require some bodywork/caring since of the exposed gaps. I could be wrong.

Gen1 did required the dropping of the headliner.

imo, keep the roof rails but remove the crossbars if you have them (for a better design flow).

I personally don't like the car railless. It looks incomplete the more I look at it.

Still open so I am to assume you still have the cross bars for sale. How much are you asking? What method of payment, Pay Pal or other?

I might remove my cross bars if you'd like. Not to find of them. Not sure what a fair price is on them?

If he doesn't want to sell of course.
