What went wrong with your FX today?

Doing a tire rotation after installing the rear shocks/ bushings and it happens. My key for my spline lugs strips. Ahhhrrrggg! I can't get off the lugs in the front off! They're too short to put on a wrench or anything to grasp them.

I try every tool I have and look up online at Sears and they have a special tool to take off stripped lugs. I'm about to leave my house when my buddy comes over with a 6 point 17mm socket and takes them off easily. WTF? i thought the spline lugs were secure as tge give you a key. And he uses a standard 17mm socket and takes them off?

Went and got a new lug nut set...hahahaha.

Any tire shop should have a set of wheel lock removal sockets. It looks like a normal impact socket but it has teeth on the inside, hammer it onto the lug nut then zip the lug off with a impact gun. I've had to use these a few times at my previous job.

While on my way dropping off the wife to work this morning along I-10, I was doing about 70mph on the HOV lane when I saw the white sedan ahead of me made a quick swerve to the left. Saw the reason too late, about 2 foot long of a palm branch on the middle of the road. I zeroed it between my wheels hoping it goes past underneath the car's body, then I heard this dragging noise from the underbelly. I pulled the car off the shoulder and retrieve the piece of debris lodged on the middle of the exhaust pipes. Tossed it aside, seeing no visible damage, I drove off.

Installed exhaust that purchased from Soonster on the FX! Had a hole in the exhaust previous to that. Sounds great!

I got the update for my nav, and when I went to eject old CD from under the passenger seat, the CD did not came out. It made a noise as if it is coming out, but it sounds like its being stuck. The message on the screen says "The nav CD is out" (or something along those lines). After about ten seconds it all goes back to normal on the screen (i guess it reloads the CD). Has anyone ran into this before??? Or has anyone took apart that CD-Drive under the seat?

Absolutely nothing went wrong. The car is brilliant.

And if anyone tells you otherwise. KILL THEM. :)

Finished in stalling the headers and cats and all that's left to do was to transfer the o2 sensor from the old cats to new. One came off easy, the other one was hell. Ends up who ever installed it, cross threaded it blah!!!! So close to starting it up. Got to wait till tomorrow to get new one.. 150 buxs.... So pissed

Spent all day pin pointing the cause of the knocking sound after my header and hfc install. ive fixed a few rattles but one is puzzling the heck out of me. Can't figure out what is knocking or rubbing. sounds like metal contact.

The only thing that comes to mind is that the headers aren't installed tight enough / i didn't tighten the bolts in star pattern which left a gap. Thing is that puzzles me is what Tchuck said. if it wasn't tight enough, i think i would hear an exhaust leak during idle. It only happens over bumps.

I tried shaking the exhaust but nothing. I fabbed up a bracket for the hfc but still there. if anything it got worse.

It would be hard to leave your headers so loose there's a rattle. How about the heat shields by the cats? That's the most common rattle especially if it only happens over bumps.

And your OEM cats are probably salvagable if needed. Just use a helicoil to get new threads on there.

It happens over bumps, down shifts mostly.

thanks for the advice. I checked the headers visually and can;t see where it would touch anything. on the passenger side, its close to a motor mount arm but its not like the headers will move and if the engine did move, it would move together.

On the other heand, i can see it happen is the HFC touching the frame when engine is bouncing around. Its got like 1/4 of a inch clearance. on either side.

Not sure what to do about it. leave it and hopefully it wont crack anything?? pound the sub frame up a bit to clear?

When i was under there, i also found a coolant leak..... pin pointed it back to the Water pipe gasket http://www.infinitipartsusa.com/200...tm?searching=Y&sort=5&cat=8561&show=10&page=2

im getting random flashes of the brake, vdc, slip and abs lights.. Brakes should be fine, hopefully its just low fluid.. Time to investigate..
