Slip Diferential Question

2009 FX35 RWD
Hi folks,

I worry about a wheel slip behavior of my FX35 '09 RWD. I noticed this behavior every time I get a uneven surface (straight or curve) making one wheel slip causing ADS light ON and car make some shake. All these is at low speed. Also I had notice traction slipping when driving into parking garage with spiral driveway. This weekend got worst when had to get into a small hill on a very uneven dry surface. One wheel started slipping hardly that I couldn't go forward anymore. I had to let the car go back to be able to get some traction on the slipping wheel and press accelerator to get some speed and move forward.

Does anyone had similar experience on RWD FX? Slip differential is not supposed to take care of these uneven surfaces and transfer traction to the other wheel? On my previous RWD car (4runner) used to handle better uneven surfaces. Is this a defect that I should take the car to dealer?

Please advise,

Thanks

This happened to me once. One time I was making a hard left turn and I was driving a little too fast for making a left turn and there was a sewer drain cover built into the road and when I drove over it the right side wheel spun out and the traction lights came on and went off. But this was my fault since I was driving a little too fast to be making a left turn at the intersection and that sewer drain thing made the tire lose traction.

Other than that it hasn't happened to me really. And I have a heavy foot:top:

Your FX is still under warranty, just take it to the dealer bro.....

I'm getting more worry now. Looks is really a problem on my FX. I will need to visit dealer friends. :mad.:

You should be asking for FX members with RWD if they have experienced any issues similar to yours. The responses you had so far are from members with AWD and may not be what you're looking for.

Good catch

I took today my FX35 RWD to the dealer to fix a sound in the left front side and took the opportunity to present the problem of loss of traction. As you can imagine, the dealer found no reason to make this happen. I talked to the mechanic leader and he concluded that when the wheel loses contact with the ground and the car is stopped the VDC system will not be acted. Causing what explained on my first post.

They ended up fixing the sound in front of the car (under warranty), differential oil change, cleaning flow meter and cut of front discs. $ 360 ouch!

I love my FX but I can't live out of reality. Here in Puerto Rico there is a lot of uneven surfaces and hills.

Today came to my mind to sell it and get a truck again. hm!!

Does anyone knows if G37S VLSD differential (R200V) fits on FX35 '09 RWD?

I'm looking for options.

This is the third time my FX '09 RWD gets stuck slipping on an uneven surface. Now I took this picture afterward to show the exact type of uneven surface I'm talking about.

I did approach the same way the Ford SUV is doing in the pic, but my FX as soon rear wheel with traction reached the deepest point it started spinning hardly (lost traction). This time I kept my foot on gas until the VDC magically acted. Hate this so bad!!!

What you think?

What did you end up doing?™

Yeah, no the G37S VLSD won't just bolt in , stub axles are different, could not find a part number for the right size, the pumpkins are the same.

I think the VDC is what the Ingineers think we all need and want. Look how well the QX60's are selling, you're in PR, so it's going to have a rougher life, but it's a pretty competent vehicle once the VDSC or whatever kicks in, mostly.

I want to swap for a FX45, or any AWD version diff now, 3.69 vs 3.35 or so ratio. Should give a RWD one "10% more Giddy up."

Right?
