The Random Question Thread

its all in taste, i know teens with civics and acuras usually paint weird colors. But on a fx not worth it IMO

Ah, my jack stands are not the traditional stand with a "U" or "V" shape. Here is what mine looks like.

Yeah, it a discontinued jack system. It was $299 when it first came out. I had my eyes on them when it saw them, but just didn't want to pay $300 for a jack. Some reason Sears discontinue them for $99 out the blue, I went and got one. I went back the next day to get another one and they already sold out. It is called Craftsman Jack System,Lift N Secure.

Hey guys anyone know where I can get some led parking lights? A member posted a link (eBay)..I purchased them and they didnt fit but instead of returning I put them on my brothers altima lol. Any help would be appreciated.

i took apart my brakes for fun today to hype myself for my new brakes. i want to change all the metal clips since the oens i got now look old. when i took off my pads, each side had 2 shims / metal pieces on it. when i opened my hawks pads it seemed to have only 1. do i need those?

Its called a pad wear indicator or squealer. its the part that makes a noise when you brakes wear down to that level so you know when to change them.and it does'nt matter which side you put it on.

hmm interesting, i have to look at my car to tell you. But my guess is the one with the metal shim goes on the piston side

I'm picturing a flat shim that is supposed to stop brake squeal. If so, it is optional but highly recommended. If you're short, you can use the 99 cent goo packet instead.
Is this what you're talking about?

i think so yea. when i took the caliper off, 2 pieces of shims ( size of the back of the pad) fell on the ground. what do you mean if im short lol.

Turn signal ones and the inner ones (two strips)

that would be the DTRL unless you did the swap.

There should be 1 shim for each individual pad to absorb the vibration. I haven't used the shim method in many many years for whatever reason, but I remember if I didn't put them on (for whatever reason; maybe they didn't come with the pads) I'd eventually be back in there trying to cure the brake squeal. At some point the goo jelly seemed to take over the market.
( . . . if you're missing shims . . . ) No offense with the short comment. lol At my local auto parts store, they stock the goo on the bottom shelf and the shims on the top shelf. I support little people too!

I like it a lot, yet unsure about the grill emblem. (Historically, I'm opposed to gold emblems) The emblem works alright, but I'd rather see the black bagless grill. If the emblem stays, go gold instead of chrome.

I might trade my oem 18" stocks with tires for oem 20" stocks with tires. What would be a reasonable amount to put cash on top?
