You should find the guy in the video when you go in, point him out and say "Don't let that guy steal any of my shit please."

Either that or tell them to let you know when his day off is and you'll bring your fx in that day. Lol

I believe it! haha. Someone finally catches these nut fvcks on tape. Send it into corporate.
I remember 'claybar' Atom. Howya doin man?

Or actually point out all the guys in the video I believe there was like three in there and they all basically knew what the main guy was doing.

I know your confusion. Cant remember names, but I do remember the crazy ass driving. I think we banned that guy.
Atom here doesnt like clay, but that's just a personal pref. Not crazee like that other dude. Can you find it? I need a good laugh today.

Just wondering, is this your video? I want to know why either someone put a camera in their car, or why you did. Almost seems like you suspected them of this, and wanted to catch them in the act?

It's my video
I keep a dash camera in my car for security reasons.
When I leave my car unattended at the dealership, I want to know how they will treat it.

In addition it is a way to see the work being done on my car

There are a multitude of reasons why,
Including recording of traffic stops.

Be creative, you could probably come up with a few.

"Why", is not as important as the end result.

A better question would be "what type of camera did I use"

Veho, MUVI

No, not as much interested in the camera unless it's something super small and stealthy. Seems like a good idea though. Sometimes I've thought about having a camera rolling while I drive in case I get in an accident or something, I can use it as proof.

You have to be careful specially recording a traffic stop. I know you can get in trouble for recording someone specially without having the other persons consent. That's why they have the wiretap law. Just know that even though u catch something the whole incident my get flipped on you and you get charged with wiretap. Every state is different with the laws.

Stu, anything? :ninja:

INTERCEPTION

This is that Atom...

INTERCEPT

It's obviously not small and stealthy as every tech aside from the thief saw it well in advance. He just wasn't paying attention.

As for keeping an eye on the work done to the car, unless they were replacing the drivers side of the headliner I don't see much value in that camera angle. Looks like it's positioned expressly for traffic stops. I guess even the elusive TAWMA FX is subject to interception...

So I guess reading the thread on intercept makes sense on why the camera is positioned where it is.

Yup. I saw his location soon as he posted and remembered him. That was a fun day of playing detective. This is a good video though, as it will at least remind us to always check our cars after turning them over to the dealer or someone else.

So there was no actual crime committed? Be careful of false accusations labeling an individual as a criminal without a crime being committed. This would be worthwhile if something bad actually happened. It's no breaking news that members of a service garage snoop around.

Thanks guys for the intercept tie in. I forgot about that one. Great remembering and thanks for the good laugh.

The Camera is very small and easy to hide. It is sound activated and about a inch and a half long and a half a inch deep.

The camera was not hidden,
It mounts in a holder that has a plastic clip on the back of it.
It can be placed virtually any where, under the hood beneath the car, any where you can clip it to.
Works very well in low light.
This is not a dash cam, it records at 30 fps
It takes a micro sd card so you and save and increase the capacity.
This camera is has no zoom feature and works best when the vehicle is not in motion
Go to Amazon and look up the Veho MUVI Camera for more details.

Not only do I use a camera for traffic stops, I use a Radar detector for Speed traps.
It is not unusual for someone to use technology to protect themselves, when others are using the same technology against them.

How many of you live in areas where they have traffic cameras?
Ever get a ticket in the mail?

Whats your defense against that?
Simple; A good radar detector.
A radar detector will detect traffic cameras as soon as they turn on.

All traffic cameras are radar operated and the signal will be picked up as a K or X alert depending on what systems are in place.

Many traffic cameras operate only during peak traffic hours, when people are going to and from work.

The more technology you have working for your the better your odds are of avoiding unpleasent situations.

 I just imagined this happening and everyone in the service area just freezing and looking over like :err:

Going there tomorrow for an oil change... Just got it done without incidents lol; I never expect any problems from them.

With regards to the video, it's a bit misleading. It's titled "thief", but in actuality the guy didn't steal anything. We'll never know if he would have if the cam wasn't there, but that's speculation. Never had a problem with this place and the service reps and managers have always been good to me. Also finally got to see the aero front lip on an fx live, I like it and will get it next year in the hopes that a proper drop will be available by then.

Hey Chris, the service rep Bobby and I were talking about your ride and your dash install. Seems like they like your ride there. Those that need service done at a dealership, Bobby's your guy.
