how do you like a sound of 850whp fx35

Brad? Is that jumbo? Has no times!?

Times on a FX is definitely interesting a lot more to me than cars....Luxury SUV with speed. A lot easier to get a car going fast than a hunk of metal not to mention a luxury one. Arelas' FX is loaded with every single luxury bell and whistle for a 2006 and will drag! Lol using lane warning while dragging? I also asked him why not go with srt8 he hated the inside.

Btw, just got a call that this car won't be ready until Nov but a little early to tell.

Sorry, somehow the last number got dropped from the link. I edited it, and here's the correct one: ///1629

I thought it was going to be ready in October?

Does the 500whp Vortech guy have any times?

If they really do pull 850whp, my money is on 2012 for the final completion date.

It's true - I've never made an official timeslip! I have always wanted to and I'm down to go anytime. I'd prefer to go along with somebody that knows the ropes just so I don't feel like a total newb the whole experience, even though I will be. Even if I went with two or three other FXs that would be willing to run at the same time, that would be better than being the only participant that I actually know.

The delay to November... I had soooo many delays. What was originally going to be a two month build really turned into about 11 months. Along the way I made some decisions that required new parts... or re-doing parts... and there were also TWO major failures along the way. They didn't cost me extra (shop took the hit), but they did cost major schedule.

It's not like the builder is starting from scratch due to the 350Z/G35 platforms but there will most definitely be a lot of custom work going on, which can never be gauranteed for any length of time. If it lasts for a month and then blows, "That's racing" is what I hear. This build is pushing the limits of the VQ - approaching the largest numbers the engine has recorded putting out in any modified form.

As a new hardware development project manager for a major aerospace company, I know all about schedules and budget. My FX build was no different, with scope creep (things I just HAD to add in along the way) to rework/rebuilding (blown turbo, bad headgasket, replaced bottom end) to depending on others (vendors, parts suppliers, subcontracts). I tried to control the build a lot like I control my business projects. It didn't work exactly like my business would - there's a different culture to the racing and performance enthusiast communities. Plus, this was MY money.

All respect to the OP - I just hope we get to see photodocumentation of the journey!

I would have come shown you guys the ropes this summer. However, it would not have been the best time to make any personal best times with this heat.

I got an idea!

Ship the car to Chicago when Alenas' car is done, meet and cruise with 10-15 Chicago/Detroit FXers, and then lets all drag. I told Alenas if he wants I can race him the first time he brings it to the track but you could be!!

And to think there was no way to make the Chicago meets exen better than the last 2!! ;)

I would recomend u run a water / meth injection kit ... AEM would be great ... My supercharger is being installed soon with 480 hp at the crank and i will be running a water meth kit .... Its basically an insurance policy to prevent the risk of knock

Update from the messenger:

He wants more torque so he's confirmed with the shop that it's now going to be a 4.3L instead of a 4.0L. As a result, several items are getting upgraded, like bigger cams, newer Garrett twin turbos instead of Greddy, etc.

The thought is 800/850 whp should be no problem and could potentially handle 1000 after discussions with the shop. Obviously fabrication will take longer now especially with so much custom work and estimation now is early 2012 spring.

He keeps telling the shop to take pictures at all stages, so when he gets them, they will be posted.

It's exciting hearing how much he wants to make sure this car can go fast and won't take anything short of that. It will definitely be an interesting journey and project!

might as well drop the v8 in there if its going to be a 4.3 lol

yeah right....then it's like drop a 5.4, then 6.4, then.....lol

I actually had asked him why he didn't go with the FX45 or the 2nd gen FX50 and he already knew that the 45 had a lot less mod availability than the 35 and the 50 has even less.

LOL i couldnt even have the patience for my supercharger to arrive after 2 weeks ... but to wait for you baby to be completed until spring 2012?:eek.: i would kill myself :P

Yes i know its better for them to take there time to do a good job but i would lose it :P

yeah, but if he's going custom twin turbo it doesnt matter because it's all custom, lol.

Yeah I guess. I know he got a really sweet deal on his loaded FX just had 100k miles and who cares if u are rebuilding anyway.

yeah and if he's spending that type of money on the starter car + planning to spe3nd ~30k ish on the build.... it may have been out of his budget to start with a second gen?
