Chedman13's wheels - iForged Imola 24"x10"

Chedman- i also noticed H&r's handled allot better when i had 3 passengers on board. I wonder if i added weights in the rear wil help..

Ed, I hope to see it tomorrow! ;)

Been following the Chicago meet tread so seeing where you guys end up! Haven't put on the winters yet for you guys...

You can see how much more ground clearance I have compared to a Radio Flyer.

Car really sits high, can't get used...

No coilovers, especially at $800+. Trading aesthetics for daily drivability on this one. It did look much better with H&R's but not practical.

Soooo you'll be rolling like that come summer? I thought the whole reason for selling the h&rs is to get coils....

Yeah unless I got a thinner tire, this height will have to do.

Actually really like it for a change. Keeps things different.

The bearings will go again in 30k miles so will come back to it then whether to get coil overs. Struts and shocks are so new, didn't want to lose them just yet.

Have you considered cutting the front springs and shaving the rear rubber spring mounts?

Sent from my BlackBerry 9800

So I took a long drive this weekend -- before I had to be careful with pot holes, dips in the road, inclines, etc... not because of the wheels, but because of the lower front bumper.

I can now park and my ride height is above parking cinder blocks, no scrapping anywhere. I told Tim this, but getting old and I love being able to just drive the car and not be so concerned about scrapping etc...

Sorry guys, I love this new "lift". Don't see myself going back to lowering anytime soon.

Yeah, I sold the H&R's for nothing. Especially after shipping to Canada. I pretty much ate a lot of shipping costs, didn't know how much it was to ship their, it's about double vs within 48 states as choices of shipping are limited too.

Not going to worry about it, went to another good FXer, hopefully he will post pictures before and after!

My bad Jonas, was trying to sneak out of a bday party for an hour or two to meet up with you guys, but my little guy was a handful and couldn't leave my wife alone with him. We needed to tag team, 2 against 1 -- I can't imagine what will happen when it's 2 against 2. Andy is running what, 3 against 2? Brave man, very brave.

Hey Dracula -- you are 100% right, the spring ratio in the rear needs to be stiffer, much stiffer. Since the H&R's are progressive, the more it's compressed the firmer it is. Humberto returned his rear springs for his coil overs for a stiffer set, and it helped a lot.

Not saying H&R's are bad, since they are stiffer than OEM's, but having them go even stiffer would make them even better. Forgot the specs, but like 14kg/m or whatever the units are=)

Well, girls are a lot easier for sure. When we had just two girls, they are 17 months apart, they play nice. If I had two boy to start, I would not having a third for sure, but I know my wife want her girl though. Now my boy is getting on the girls nerve, especially with my middle girl, they're also 17 months apart. But man they're noisy and fight each other all the time. I hope them two don't fight all the way through until they leave for college or out of the house!

Time to open up a day care at Andy's house? Andy's custom tuning garage and daycare services while you wait!

Just to update, patiently waiting for my 275/30-24 KUMHO ECSTA ASX KU21 101W BSW to show up today. These are rated at 420 AA A, so pretty impressed.

These have a 30.5" diameter, so my very slight rub issue will go away. I really wish the first generations didn't have two metal pipes in the passenger wheel well, that's the only place it rubs, on full turns to the right. Turns to the left are fine.

Just so people know about 24" tires, 285/30/24 Pirelli is shorter than 275/30/24! So for 2nd generation I suggest 285/35/24 Pirelli and on first generation 275/30/24 Hankook, Toyo, Kumho (unless Turbocad is in your backyard, in which you can go bigger).

really? 285/30 Pirelli is shorter than 275/30 Kumho's in 24's? why?
What happened to your Pirelli's? .... sounds like you're thinking coilovers :)
I think 275/30/24 is approaching elastic band territory... I would imagine ride quality and protection will take a hit compared to 285/35/24.
22" would have been the best choice, if you knew you were going to slam it..... you can't have it all... :tongue (2):

Thanks for the comments. The last sentence is key, you can't have it all.

I first put on 285/30/24 Pirelli's and they were the thinnest tire I've ever seen or had. Ratios are ratios and specs are specs, but reality is that they are materially thinner than the standard 285/30/24 using math equations.

That's when I went to 285/35/24, and they should work for 90% of people because they actually fit near perfect on a first generation except that last turn of the steering wheel right only. To avoid rub, just avoid full turns and adjust by reversing etc.

Ride is very solid, smooth and comfortable.

Now I'm in the suburbs and my wife drives the car, bad roads are less of a concern and the higher priority is absolute no rub.

Priorities change and so do my tires:)

My 285/35/24 have a new home. Sending them out tomorrow since my new tires finally arrived but too late to get mounted.

New sidewall.

40 psi, hunter road force balanced.

Smooth ride, no rub, couldn't be more happy.
