DICE MediaBridge iPod/iPhone USB Integration Kit + Bluetooth

Well I got mine last night and installed it this morning. It takes about 20 minutes to install. It all plug and play.

I only got to test it in USB mode this morning on the drive to work. My first impression....disappointed. The clarity is excellent, but it suppresses the bass badly in comparing it to play in CD mode. I the same song in USB mode and CD mode, the bass is about half of the playing in CD mode. I will post sound clips for comparison when I get home this evening.

Oh that's not a good first impression. Could it be something to do with the connection or settings on the radio were switched? Get to try the bluetooth yet? Gotta have that bass, lol.

Yeah, tell me about it. That's not good at all. I will try the BT later today. I bet it yield the same result. I sense a returns if the bass cannot be tuned.

I don't have subs (besides the factory Bose) so maybe I can't properly judge, but I wouldn't say I have NO bass with mine. I also have EQ turned on in the iPhone's iPod settings. Mine is set to "Hip Hop" which sounds fine on the Bose system. There is a "Bass Booster" EQ you might try. I'm not near my car to try it with no EQ.

What sort of system are you running Andy?

Mine all stock. No mods to audio system. Have you play the same song via the CD for a comparison? I play the same song on CD that was burn from the same MP3 that I was playing in USB mode. The bass output of the same song through the MediaBridge USB mode REALLY disappointing. Nothing was added or modified when I burn the CD and it not just for one particular song, its every album that I have tested this morning. Now this is through the USB mode. Steadi, is playing through the iPhone interface though. There might be a difference? Can you test your via a USB Stick to see if you have the same bass as through the iPhone interaface?

Good observation. When you said USB, I just assumed iPod. I'll try a 3-way test between CD, iPhone, and USB stick tomorrow. Right now, it's midweek vacation at Daytona Beach :)

He checks IS while on vacation. Mann.... here to another InfinitiSceneAholics
Check out this post. ///11964

I play songs from my Android phone via BT. When play through the phone with EQ turn on and customize EQ settings, it sounds a bit better. I said a 20% improvement. When I turn off the EQ on the phone, it sounds just the same as it play through a USB stick.

Is the DICE at least reliable? 100% turn on every time?

I've been using it for 3 weeks, several times a day. I usually start the car and then drop my iPhone in the cradle. It recognizes it and starts playing where my iPod left off. Sometimes I cradle it first and then turn the car on. It works flawlessly both ways, every time. I've also found that when listening to a streaming app like Pandora or iHeartRadio, if you take a call before un-docking (or perhaps mid phonecall because you were using the factory handsfree but the other caller can't understand a word you're saying), it starts playing the stream immediately when you re-dock.

As for the bass issue, I think I hear what you're talking about Andy. It's not a lack of bass but just more tight and compressed. Basically its not as "boomy" thru the MediaBridge. With the same song on CD at the same volume level and stereo EQ, there is definitely more low end. I don't know if I particularly like it or hate it yet. I like the sound crisp and clear through the factory system, so I prefer the sound clarity I'm getting over the MediaBridge. On CD, you could argue there was more low end, but it was in the form of muffling low notes, not deep bass. I havent tried a USB stick yet but I'm assuming quality is the same across the board. Does that mesh with your findings?

Overall, the MediaBridge has crisp and clear mid's and hi's, and fantastic clarity. It seems the bass has been compressed but you can get some of it back with iPod EQ. I'd certainly leave deep hair shaking bass to a good pair of 12's in a bandpass box if that's your pleasure. I dont expect that out of any factory subwoofer. But that's just my preference.

I just began researching these mediabridges today and came across this thread. I'm really interested in purchasing one, but can find little information on how it handles multiple folders via usb stick/hard drive for nissan/infiniti vehicles. Specifically, do you have to create playlist for each album, or can you have the albums seperated by folder and play each folder individually? (I had a carpc in my last car, so I'm kind of spoiled and want to keep this one stock.)

Steadi, I live in Orlando as well, would you be willing to allow me to see your mediabridge in action? i would have pm'd, but i don't have the ability.

I pm'ed you.

The folders you make on your flash drive will act as playlists. Not sure if there is a limit to how many folders you can have. I don't use the USB flash drive method but I've read about the functions on other car forums. Here's the BMW manual which is their flagship vehicle. It tackles the USB stick folders:

For prospective buyers, I also noticed that iPodCarPros.com is having a 72hr sale on the MBR-1503-NIS. Their current price is $224 w/ free shipping. They are an authorized dealer and have great customer service, as I've delt with them before.

ZebraTronics on Amazon is still the cheapest and I've learned that they are connected to DICE via Blue River Marketing which is also an authorized dealer. I have to send my unit back because the firmware upgrade feature won't work and DICE is covering it fully because I bought through BRM.

I use with USB stick most of the time. It works just as page 9 on the manual described.

Once you're in USB Memory Mode:
Select DISC 1 put to in song browsing, then use the track buttons to change from song to song.
Select DISC 2-6 put you in folders browsing, then use the track buttons to navigate through the folders on your USB flash drive.
