DICE MediaBridge iPod/iPhone USB Integration Kit + Bluetooth

Has anyone compared the BT sound quality to other BT devices with apt-x codec? I have found zero information on the DAC Audiovox uses.

I am installing mine this evening and at the office I use a BT receiver that has apt-x built in and would like to get as lossless as possible in the car. I've read numerous negatives on the BT quality and I'd hate for that to be the case since I use high quality music on my droid.

Another option it seems would be to usa a Bluetooth (w/ apt-x) to USB connector (like they have for PC's) or have some way to use the aux-in to BT connector.

BT is not that reliable with Mediabridge/Audiovox mines cuts in and out and works when it wants to on some days. When mobile device goes through a OS overhaul then Mediabridge may need to update as well. And these past few updates to MB has made it worse in my opinion

Hopefully better luck with your setup

Thanks for the heads up!

I'm driving from Houston to Destin next month and I will need to come up with a solution by then.

I'll probably order one USB BT receiver and another that plugs into the AUX but can charge via USB (if one exists with apt-x, I need to check). Hopefully by the end of this I can have a more reliable and better sounding solution to report with you guys.

I think from my reading a while back, the best phone with audio through the headphone jack was the Iphone, but I should double check that. I know my GS4 one is total garbage. I prefer BT for the lack of having to find the cable.

I would doubt that a bt receiver would work on the usb port on the media bridge. I think it uses the usb port as a card reader, finding media files. A bt receiver is an antenna which the pc has drivers to use and create a network connection.

I agree with tom it's mainly for hardwire/charging purpose to Media devices whether it be your USB Stick, mobile phone, or iPod

Gotcha, thanks guys!

Just got back from the install and the BT sound isn't as bad as I was expecting. I'll leave it as-is for the meantime and if I feel the need to go with an apt-x BT receiver, it'll go straight to the AUX connection and charge via BT.

I did notice that it was not auto-pairing after shutting the car off. I checked the manual and it says to hit Preset 4 when in BT mode to cycle that, but my Preset 4 only cycled the scrolling txt on/off. Any ideas?

Has anyone used their sat cable that turns into an aux in? I ordered that this past week and went to plug in in tonight. I connected it up, plugged my phonein using the headphone jack portion, and zero sound. Connections were all good. It did not give me the option for sat connection when scrolling through the input choices either.

Anyone else get this problem?

Alright, I managed to figure out what the problem was with this.

First off, if you order the version of the Mediabridge with Bluetooth, the RCA/AUX to SAT cable thing they make does not work with that model. In order for that cable to work, you must have the DUO version which is the same as the Mediabridge, just without Bluetooth. So that's why that did not work. Really dumb, but I have no explanation for why other than the manual only lists a SAT to SAT cable as working.

Second part, the cable Radioshack had given me was a female RCA to male MONO 3.5mm plug. They look almost exactly the same and will insert like normal, but the sound will be mono instead of stereo which explains why the direct connect sucked so bad. I then tried using the SAT bundle cable and got a very crappy Bluetooth signal since the cable is not meant to feed the RCA inputs to the headphone input. Both inputs only go to the SAT end.

So with all of that sorted, I ordered a female RCA to male 3.5mm stereo cable from Monoprice and it should be here in the next few days.

The connection will be:
Yamaha YB-11 -> Monster Cable female coax/male RCA Y-cable -> RCA female/3.5mm male y-cable -> AUX-IN on Mediabridge with power on the Yamaha connected to the USB input on the Mediabridge

Ugh. So still no solution. With the proper cables, I receive nothing but static. Completely bizarre since I can plug the Yamaha unit into my Denon home stereo and it works perfectly and sounds glorious with the apt-x Bluetooth connection.

When I get home today I will try just connecting my phone to it via the aux-in with a 3.5/3.5mm cable and see what happens. Hopefully that works otherwise it seems I'll have a defective unit.

Experiment #3 (which will happen after I get back from vacation next week) will be to find a suitable apt-x Bluetooth with a 3.5mm stereo output that can charge via USB.

I just picked up one of these, but made a mistake of getting the MBR-1502. Was a great deal, but I may have to cancel my bid if it will not work . . & get a 1503 model. I do not have nav.
Does anyone know if this unit will work OK?
