anyone got a radar detector or jammer?

Belltronics RX65... Saved me several times, but like ken said, dont rely on it 100%...

Also, i turn it off on local, its pretty much useless. Highways only for me.

Detector yes, no such thing as a jammer. If you find one it's probably a scam, such as the rocky mountain radar one.

It's saved me at least a couple times in just a year. 5 miles from the CA border I was next to a County of Riverside vehicle when a CHP was coming the other way. My detector went off so I slowed down just in case. About 3 minutes later it starts going off again, and here comes Chippy flying up behind me and he pulls over the other guy.

If you get one, buy it on Amazon. It was already $50 cheaper there before there lower pricing, and then I found a 20% coupon code so it went from $500 from the manufacturer to like $350.

had a valentine, let me down a few times so i upgraded to the full k40 undetectable in-car bumper to bumper radar detector/laser jammer kit. The only ticket for speeding I got with it was for a non-radar "line-method" ticket.

I didn't install it into the new car yet, its sitting as a nest of wires in my garage haha

I love the line method! I was driving once and they had a sign that said monitored by aircraft, then I saw a huge white stripe across the road so I just slowed down for a little bit.

fireRN has jammers installed on his FX35 front and rear.
Probably laser jammers.

I use to have a radar detector in every car I owned. I found out I was going to court more with the detector then without. I've been without a Radar detector for about 3 years haven't received one ticket( cross my fingers). It's probably more of a mental thing idk.

^well yeah when you have it you speed more lol

when you don't have it, you speed more when you clearly shouldn't be. I still speed you have no idea....just not speed as much where chances of hitting a cop are high.

when i had a radar i would speed all the time because you felt safe no matter if the road you are on is loaded with traps for cops to take.

Stu - yes laser jammers. regular detected and laser jammers...basically best of both worlds imo, but lots of money to get it done right with the right equipment.

yeah thats what I had...front and back radar detectros and a front and back laser detector/diffuser(jammer)

Which one do you guys recommend? Out of Passport, Valentine and K40? Price wise
also...

what's your budget? A lot of people are going to recommend V1, but I was just fine with Beltronic's RX65. It had a very high rating, just a couple points behind the V1 in a few different tests (from different magazines/forums etc etc).

The Passport x50 (or 50x or whatever) has the same internals as the RX65. Passport and Beltronics is/are the same company.

I would just avoid the lower brands like Whistler or Rocky Mountain whatever.

Another one that's kinda of pricy BUT gets a lot of great feedbacks is the Escort/Passport 9500 series. It has GPS and eventually "learns" the spots of false alarms (like grocery stores).

Thx for the advice man....don't have a particular budget. But wanted to get something reasonably priced that does the job well. I was looking at the Passport
9500ix, I think it is, but you're right they are pretty pricey. I just checked the Beltronics on ebay and it's pretty reasonable. I don't need the best just something very good :smile (2):

I wouldn't get the V1 only because it is old old old technology. That thing hasn't changed in years. Also, their patent for the front and rear radar "horns" expires soon so Escort may come out with something new that has front and back radar detection. As opposed to just front, and picking up anything from behind when it bounces off of something in front of you.

I love the mirror integration of the Escort Jammer system in this install:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmh_2ceUsdQ

But I have heard that the Escort software is no longer updated and the newest Laser systems used by law enforcement (The Dragon Ally Laser Guns) are not even affected by the Escort ZR4.

I have been looking at the Laser Intercepter G8 which, for the standard version, isnt too bad price-wise (~700 bucks). Their high power system is very pricey but may be overkill. Laser Intercepter puts out updates often so I think they might be a good bet.

Don't waste your time with other detectors - either Valentine One or Escort 9500ix. Top of the line and pricey but worth it.
I have the Escort 9500ix and saved me several times already - several times.
On my previous car I had the Laser Interceptor - http://www.laser-interceptorusa.com/
It does really work. Really fun to find out a cop with a laser, do an U turn and see how fast you can pass him by without getting a ticket.
Get the rear view mirror mount for the radar detector - I have a custom one but I see Escort now has one. You get the power from your power mirror. http://www.escortradar.com/escort-blendmounts/

V1 is useless here in Southern California. All highway patrolmen and 95% of police officers use LIDAR. I got a ticket on the highway not to recent with a lidar, my V1 is useless. Time to buy a laser interceptor
