Need help/advice picking a new exhaust.

well i ordered the nismo S-tune yesterday.. im debating if i should get the G35 extentions or just simply alter the Y-pipe.. if i ever decide to part it out i can only sell it to a infiniti owner... but if i dont alter the Y-pipe i could sell it to nissan as well..

i was listening to JB old FX with a nismo exhaust.. felt in love even more.. cant wait to get it.

Kakumei Y-Pipe + 1 G35 extension (or 2 if you want to do at the inlet) + Nismo Mid-section + Nismo Rear section with extended tips + 2 12 mm polyurethane exhaust hangers (rest use OEM).

Go to local hardware store and get stainless steel bolts and nuts (I forget if the Nismo ones it comes with are stainless steel or not).

Sell Nismo Y-pipe to a RWD owner or 350z/g35 forum to try to recover some costs.

red exhaust hangers 12mm:

or blue if you want:

You *might* need 15mm exhaust hangers, but I don't think so:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Suba...Accessories&hash=item2c5a7710fd#ht_1315wt_962

no Nismo Y-pipe???

You have AWD, it will hit the transfer case. Is there a way to modify it easily to make it fit? (asking the infinitiscene crowd)

Kakuemi/megan, etc... all have a huge "y" to clear.

i think Aiya answered that question.. we need to extentd or use 2 G35 extention on the ends of the Y pipe that connects to the cats..

Aiya has a 2006-2008 FX45. That means his cats are longer by 4-6 inches to begin with, add another 4-6 inches with the g35 extension, and you have clearance.

2003-2008 FX35 and 2003-2005 FX45 might not have the clearance. I don't know for sure, but just mentioning so you don't end up with a surprise at the shop.

True duals (Borla = 8.2 , Injen = 7.6, Stillen = 8.1) gained the most HP on a VQ35DE. The Nismo S-tune gained 6.3 hp in this test.

HKS single, only mid pipe and rear section is quoted by HKS at 6 hp gain. One-off scenario online, I found a G35 owner gained 7.5 hp. Throw in a y-pipe, maybe 6.5 hp gain off HKS's number.

Torque, the duals still beat Nismo, except for Borla, which only gained 2.72 vs Nismo's 4.5. Injen (5.1) and Stillen (7.3) beat Nismo.

I couldn't find any torque gains from HKS, but being a smaller diameter, I am anticipating the same as Nismo, if not slightly higher torque.

These numbers are top end gains, and I would probably guess the HKS faired better than the Nismo throughout the entire curve ever so slightly due to the 2.5". Also, throwing in that Y-pipe should make a somewhat material difference.

That's why you'll see piping diameter typically go smaller than stock for true duals to eliminate any losses for a NA setup.

All that being said, as a daily driver, sound trumps gains for me, as long as their aren't any losses in hp or torque vs stock.

These should somewhat reflect the FX35, but due to the longer pathways, maybe slightly difference, and also due to different engine tuning.

If you are FI, that's a totally different story on piping diameter and you typically want larger.

HKS vs Nismo? Mild go HKS. Louder, go Nismo. HP/torque difference will be unnoticeable.

I'm going to sell my HKS and try something just a tad louder and stay single vs dual...

So you have some numbers I see. hmmm. Top end maybe more, but the bttm is where the 35 lacks. I've driven the Stillen, & am convinced that you get robbed w/ the duals on the V6. While smaller, there's still too much volume on N/A. Nobody shifts routinely at 7K, so those numbers mean very little for the daily driver. I didnt notice any loss going to a 3" single, so that would be my choice again had I done it over.
The Nismo is a fine choice, & it's build is really nice, as is the HKS. There's no experimentation needed w/ either.

& no drone either :)

Really old clip here. I remember hammering it at the start of this clip, but the snow button was on accidentally . . which is why it sounds so choked

Never had numbers before and made me curious and came across that PDF.

NISMO FTW! Every sound clip sounds amazing.

I'll most likely have a brand new set of G35 extensions for sale when I am done with my install if you need them. Also, I just shotgunned out offers to three sites for GB pricing on the NISMO, if they bite are you in Rubare? I'll run a thread if a price kicks in that makes it worth our time if not we can follow through and order separately.

you should use them to extend the arms of the y pipe instead of slicing and dicing, no? That way you have flanges instead of cuts and welds?

You'll need a polyurethane hanger though this route because it's heavier.

Also, check the diameter of the g35 extensions -- 3" or 2.25"? if 3.0" go with the extending of the arms.

TIG welding... bring out the whip lance and ensure it.

^ Good point, I thought about cutting them up. At first it seemed like expensive piping but the flanges are there......I'll bring them in with me at install time and see if they want to use them.

Looks like a someone will be the lucky 2006-2008 FX45 winner of your "custom" Invidia exhaust! Who's first in line!

I'm all in bro.. I got a call from the website where I placed my order and they came up with this.." sir I have to tell you that the item you order we don't have it in stock. If you want to still go ahead with this order you will have to wait approximately 20+ days.. So I'm still in the market for a Nismo S-Tune exhaust bro..

Let's go I actually convinced my girl that I needed it.. If she sees the money still on the bank account she might use it for some shoes or fancy boots and crap of that nature !!! Let's see if we can get a few more interested on the Nismo.. We should get a good price as a GB for the exhaust.. Or at least free shipping lol

Sweet!! That's three!! With one or 2 more we'll be good.. I don't think any business out there would Like to say no to 5k+!!
