So I'm getting my Navigation updated on Wed.

Hey I was just letting you know I was getting my navigation updated on Wed when I go into service to get some other things done. I was just wondering how much should I expect to pay? I was thinking it's like $150-$200. Maybe cheaper? I've decided to do this after I got lost deep in update NY last month. The navigation lady kept telling me to get on this ramp to the entrance of the highway that "use" to be a two way, but they converted it to a one way ramp just recently. I had a hell of a time finding a different entrance to the highway since there was none nearby. It just goes to show how the 2009 maps are starting to become outdated.

bad news for you bro. Even u do update maps,i doubt they will be new. My service advisor told that even 2011 maps are couple years old. So don't expect to get "very fresh" updates. it does cost around $150 for maps + labor 0.25 hours

Wait until August 1st if you want the latest. Current version 8.4 nav maps are going for $99 because they are ending in their life cycle 2010-2011. August 1st should be newest but will go for $150.

I'm not sure about Sobi's comment, but according to Infiniti, they say this and I quote:
"Each year, the navigation map database is updated with thousands of new roads, subdivisions, street signs, other roadway changes, and also points of interest."

"Get accurate directions to wherever you travel including new roads, new sub-divisions, and current addresses. New and expanded coverage in over 50 cities, counties and metropolitan areas across the continental United States and Canada. You can confidently drive through unfamiliar or recently changed areas. This latest edition provides an updated list of Points of Interest to help you find the way to where you want to go quickly and efficiently."

I know, that's what I was thinking. For you Sobi they may be old, but my 2009 map is seriously outdated. I will just pay for the 2011 map update and see how it turns out. This is like the third or fourth time my navigation has told me to get on a road that either doesn't exist anymore, or the traffic rules have changed on it leaving me in a difficult situation. So I should be paying: $99 for the map + $30 (0.25 HR of labor). Not bad if you ask me. I'm going to let you know how it goes. I'd rather not wait for the 2012 update.

I found a guy on craigslist who updated my navi to 2010-2011 maps for $60. It took all of about 20 seconds. He ejected the old 2006-07 DVD ROM from the navi unit under the passenger seat and loaded the new disc (a burned copy I might add). The screen said loading for about 10 seconds, then the new maps loaded up and I was on my way! You can tell what version you are running under your navi settings. Worked like a charm! Not sure about seconds gens, but I would try that first if I were you.

It won't work on the 2nd gen's. The 2nd gen's use a hard drive based navigation where as the 1st gen's use DVD based. I have to get it done at the dealer since the 09's require the dealers computer to update it I believe.

I'm interested in your update Aaron.
I'm on my Cross Country trip and my OEM Nav is useless compared to my Garmin portable. Heck I was in one town in Alberta and I punched in a local Nissan Dealers from the menu and the OEM Nav took me to the middle of a subdivision, miles from the Dealers.
We totally rely on my Garmin portable unit.

Come on Aaron, what's the scoop on the Nav update?????????

I"m going to get mine after July 31st when the new updates come out....but yes Aaron, how is the new one? did you get it for 50% less (did that include labor too?)

I'm thinking of updating my 2009 too but my dealer claims they called NAVTEQ and there aren't any updates until Dec. They also claim it is a 1 hour job (or maybe they are billing 1 hour minimum).

Good stuff Jonas, let us know how it works out, if you see much improvment.

Wise move, thanks Aaron, we will be watching for your reports on the update when you get them.

my dealer told me there is a new one coming out soon and if I want to buy a cheaper version, then I could buy now. The website seems to confirm this. Not sure?
