windows w/tint when wet

Before adding tints to the fronts, they never made any squeaks.
Ever since I had 3M tints put on the fronts, I noticed that after it rains and before the car dries up) when you open and/or close the front windows, it squeaks. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot, sometimes just one window, sometimes both. I don't think it has anything to do with anything needing lubrication because they are fine when not wet and fine before the tint. I'm not saying it happens ALL the time because after washing the car most of the time it doesn't squeak. In fact, since I got the tint maybe 2-3 months ago, the squeaking only happened 3 times total and it's rained a lot lately. But it's enough for me to ask :) because when it does squeak, it's almost as loud as when the brakes squeal when going in reverse and I know I'm going to hear the comment FX50 and windows squeak?

Any ideas? And I don't think the dealer could really help because it started after tint, it's hard to replicate and after dries corrects itself, and they probably would just lubricate more but I'm almost positive it's lubricated enough because it wasn't an issue before tint and sometimes (rarely), I'll see some oil residue on the windows from rolling up/down.

so not sure what to do....

:eeerr:

Next meet, let's throw some water on it and try to replicate the problem. There's some rubber's rubbing :wink (2):.

Yeah mine does it too after I got the windows tinted. I used 3M tint on my windows. Only does it sometimes though....

Seems like same exact issue then. I know it doesn't happen frequently, but still. Does it annoy you? Have you tried anything? I wonder if it's specific to 3M. I went with the highest quality tint the tint shop offered, which ended up being almost $50 more for the high end 3M tint.

Nope doesn't annoy me really since it only happens when the windows are really wet. I haven't tried anything on it either. I know it has to do with the tint since it started happening after I had the windows tinted. Ehhhhh oh well I love the tint:tup:

I know my tint is not 3m if that has anything to do with why it doesn't squeak..

Maybe try this-----------------

Hey Jonas, how about cut a candle stick into a wedge shape, lower the window glass, glide the wedge candle a couple times into the window guide channel.

so basically get a tiny bit of candle wax rubbed on the inside of the window where it meets the rubber? Have you done this before?

I guess I can try this the next time I hear it....will probably be awhile though. Seems like the conditions have to be perfect to replicate it.

Jonas, found this online:
The problem happens because some window tinters "tuck" the bottom seals to get the tint in there.

For some odd reason the second seal on civics doesn't like to get flipped back up. It's a common problem on the board. I've gone so far as to email my reps and have them tell their people (and issue a bulletin) to not tuck the seals on civics during installation.

You could try to flip it back up yourself, but you wouldn't want to risk scratching the tint.

Either take the door panel off and flip it back up and reinstall the panel or take it back to the tint shop, kindly explain the problem to them, and they should be able to fix it.

BE VERY careful if you try this, as you could scratch up your tint:
I had this problem too but i found that using a chopstick to flip the weather stripping fixed the problem

Someone suggested this too:
Amazon.com: Vinylex 1215 Protectant Spray 16.9 oz. (500mL): Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41uyWGv6sSL.@@AMEPARAM@@41uyWGv6sSL

Either rub it on the edge of the glass or the window glass guide channel.

Haven't had the need to do it to cars windows, but done it to many different situation, like a some cheap zippers, plastic hinges on computer doors, cheap drawer glider....

Does anyone have the specs on how to properly remove the door panel to investigate the area, things are lubricated as they should be, no dirt in tracks, look at windows glass guide channel, etc?
