Lexani CVX-55: 22x10.5, Will it fit??

Sorry to hear that man. I hope Inland wheel does the right thing. You can get them mounted while you're waiting for the replacement. Post some pics up when you get a chance.

So far I'm not concerned about whether they'll take care of me, Steve responded to my email already and is figuring out next steps. So I'm confident they'll do the right thing.

I'm just waiting to find out how they'll resolve. Hopefully they'll just ship me the replacement wheel when it's done being made, and I can have someone swap the tire off of the damaged wheel and onto the good one, then send back the damaged wheel in the same box or something. They'd need to reimburse me for the cost to swap tires, but that isn't much. At least that way I can mount them and enjoy them rather then having to wait even longer. After all it is just a few dings in the chrome lip, something you don't notice unless you're right on top of it. But still something I want taken care of considering they are brand new and shouldn't have any defects.

If I can keep them until the replacement arrives, I'll get them mounted this weekend and post a few pics. They look really bad ass though and I'm pumped!

Well I heard back, Inland Wheel placed a rush order with Lexani for the replacement wheel, and they should have it ready by middle of next week he's guessing. Figure another week of shipping time, and I should get it the following week. So we're looking at another 2 weeks. In the meantime, I have to send back the damaged wheel.

It is all FedEx's fault, they throw the wheels around face down and aren't particularly careful, so you're bound to have some damage from time to time. He said they've tried several things, but they have issues with FedEx damage from time to time, this time I was the unlucky one.

Another thing that plays into this is I bought the wheels and tires together, so the wheels shipped with tires already mounted. The whole thing was wrapped up in plastic wrap, and the face of the wheel was protected with foam and cardboard padding. But when FedEx threw them on the ground face first, it doesn't take much to damage the face.

So while Inland Wheel is definitely taking care of the situation, it's frustrating that it will take another 2 weeks to get my replacement, all because of FedEx's mishandling. Plus, there's no guarantee they won't screw up the next one either. But since the wheels were custom ordered, I have to wait for Lexani to make another wheel.

Can't wait to see your pics. I'm thinking about getting rims in another month myself. Good luck.

Any updates

I love the Lexani cvx-55 and seriously want to get a similar setup by spring of next year. Have you gotten the Lexanis installed? Dying to see the pics on an fx35 which is what I have. hope you got everything worked out and Fedex a little more careful as well.

Last activity was over two months ago.. Might want to try an email him if he listed it ln his info.

Sorry I haven't been on the forum in awhile. I've had quite the experience with the wheels, in a nutshell the wheels from Lexani didn't fit. It wasn't a problem of clearing the suspension or the rim being too wide etc, the problem was the pad in the center of the wheel was too wide so there wasn't enough clearance between the edge of the pad and the edge of the brake calipers. The pad is the center of the wheel that mounts to the hub, this piece was too wide and so the edge of it was rubbing against the edge of the calipers in the front.

I've been trying to get the issue(s) resolved for the past few months now and let me tell you, going forward I will ONLY buy something from a local place like Discount Tire where if they don't fit then Discount Tire handles it all for you, no shipping like when you buy online.

Here are the issues I've had:

1. Got wheels after about 1.5 months backlog, wheels damaged in shipment.
2. After another month, finally got replacement wheel. Installed all 4 wheels to discover that they didn't fit due to pad being too wide.
3. Sent wheels back to Inland Wheel. Got return shipping instructions and billed to Inland Wheel's account number via UPS. UPS shipped them 2nd Day Air due to clerk giving me wrong form, so Inland Wheel disputed charges with UPS. UPS decides to send me invoice for $1,650 to cover shipping. 2 months later I got UPS to adjust service level to ground, and am trying to get this invoice paid by Inland Wheel. This has been primarily a UPS screw up, but still trying to get it taken care of so I don't owe anything.
4. Inland Wheel has Lexani machine down the pads on all wheels so they should now clear calipers. Get wheels back and notice more damage from shipping (this time UPS).
5. UPS refuses to pay the claim, Inland Wheel is working with them to resolve

So all in all, I bought the setup in May and STILL am not able to install them. I have all 4 wheels and tires in my garage, but don't want to install them if damaged. I'm trying to get it fully handled ASAP (so far while it has been drawn out Inland Wheel has worked with me to resolve issues), however if I'm unable to get this resolved shortly then my only recourse may be to dispute the charge with my credit card company and show them how patient I've been in working with the merchant to resolve the issue, yet it's been 6 months and still isn't resolved.

The only reason I bought online in the first place is because I wanted 22x10.5 all around and Discount Tire says that setup won't fit. Inland Wheel told me they WOULD fit, and guaranteed fitment. Since I wanted the more concave look on all 4 wheels I bought online from Inland Wheel. If there is a problem, then I have shipping back and forth to California, which is a HUGE hassle and very time consuming. Plus since I bought rims and tires from them, the rim isn't as protected when shipped with tires mounted because the setup is just too big to effectively box. I'd rather have rims shipped in original factory box which offers MUCH better protection, then buy tires locally, or have them shipped seperately.

In the future, I will ONLY buy what a local place like Discount Tire says is guaranteed to fit. That way if it doesn't fit then the business is local and will be on the hook to take care of the issue. I put too much stock into what everyone said would fit and online calculators etc, and the calculators wouldn't identify the issue with the pad in the center of the wheel being too big. If I had the same problem but bought from Discount Tire, I'd have had no problems with the setup being damaged in shipping and also with getting them to fit.

Here are my suggestions:
1. Whatever you decide to get, buy it from a local place like Discount Tire that offers a fitment GUARANTEE. No shipping hassles.
2. AVOID buying rims from a place online, and if you have to buy online or deal with shipping have the rims shipped in the original factory packaging.
3. NEVER have setup shipped with tires mounted on rims. Packaging isn't going to be as solid with this big a setup, and you run the risk of shipping damage. Get tires seperately.
4. Make sure whoever installs tires does so with a touchless machine that won't contact the face of the rim in any way.

I'll let you know how it goes!

Wow, that's insane.. That pad/hub must be huge for it to hit the caliper; why would they design such a thing.!

Perfect fitment is a process and can take some time but pad diameter? Never heard of an issue with diameter before.....Sorry man......

Wow, I'm all about more surface area from wheel to rotor to reduce stress on studs, but that's just crazy. Any pictures? Must have been a huge surface area, I never even heard of anything remotely close as they typically make wheels where it mounts to the hub/rotor small enough to clear. Hence the huge hub diameters so you can throw in hub rings to fit most cars.

I apologize for being MIA. I do have these installed on my vehicle now, and they do fit (after the modifications to shave down the diameter of the pad). Below are some pics, as well as a couple pics of the pad issue.

looks great bobby!! and definitely gives me a good idea of how the 22 will look on my blk fx. quick question...are those 285/40 tires you're running on, and did you lower it? congrats on getting it done after all the crap you went through man!

Thanks! The tires are 285/40/R22, and I have not lowered it yet. It was quite the hassle, but in the end I ended up getting them installed and they fit. They do have some minor scuffs from shipping, but it is something you don't notice unless you're looking them over with a microscope.

They did end up refusing the return shipping charges so I got a bill from UPS for $400, but I disputed that with a collection agency and ended up getting a chargeback from my credit card company for entire amount of the original purchase. So it ended up working out in the end, it was just painful.

Sorry the process was so lengthy but the end product looks very nice man. I hope you feel it was worth the wait! =)

I have some more recent pics after I got my rims put back on for the summer and the car washed up. All that's left now is to get my front aero lip installed shortly!

Those looks good, exactly like the vossen cv1's

That helps, thanks. The guy at Inland Wheel I spoke to said he recalculated the offset and that a 40 offset would work best, which he said would make it about flush with the fenders.

Comparing 265/50/20x8 ET50 and 285/40/22x10.5 ET40 I get:

Suspension clearance: Same
Fender clearance: Package extends 20mm (0.8") farther
Wheelwells: Will fill out wheelwell by extra 7mm (acceptable for most cars)

I may want the wheels to tuck under just a hair, but not sure if a slightly higher offset would still work?

Comparing 265/50/20x8 ET50 and 285/40/22x10.5 ET45 I get:

Suspension clearance: Package is 5mm (0.2") closer to suspension/brakes. Acceptable for most cars.
Fender clearance: Package extends 15mm (0.6") farther
Wheelwells: Will fill out wheelwell by extra 7mm (acceptable for most cars)

I have been following the thread and thought I would throw my 2 cents in as well:

I have a 1st GEN with HR Springs .... From the time I purchased the FX in 07 to just a few months ago I ran the factory 20" Wheel with a 25 MM spacer. I knew that this setup had no rubbing issues and did not require any fender rolling.

As several others suggested I used the size comparer at rimsntires.com to ensure proper fitment prior to purchasing my 22's. I purchased 22X10.5 with a 25MM offset for all fours. I am also running 285/40/22 Nitto 420S on all fours.

The wheels are flush to the fender wheel and look clean; the HR Springs do help complete the look as there is very little gap; however, as I said earlier there are no fitment issues and it does not rub even when extreme corning with speed on a downhill slope.

The rear can be adjusted to correct the tire angle and you can still use the factory camber bolts bolts on the front; however, you will be at the most extreme setting. I would encourage you to purchase a camber kit for the fronts so you have more adjustment to align properly, this way you don't eat up the inner fronts with uneven wear.

Again, I have a 45 1st GEN so all of my assumptions of fitment might not be spot on for you as I am not aware of all the specs on your 2nd GEN; however, it should still work.

There is one thing I can say for certain .... don't settle for anything less than the 10.5 wheel .... mine have a 3.75" lip and it definitely set's the FX off with a aggressive look and stance.

Good Luck with your purchase I know how much I searched and looked before I pulled the trigger. Oh and I also agree about Discount Tire ..... I liked rotation and balance for life as well but the replacement certificates are why I really bought there .... LOL and "YES" they installed them for me as well. ;)

HAHAHA I just noticed this was an old thread!!!!
