Jbaker1121's FX50 updates and photo thread

Thanks everyone. I like to come back every now and then, but I've been drowning with work and my days have been so busy I have less time for sitting on the 'net for purposes other than school. Have also been getting really into fitness etc so my days are pretty much class gym and reading.
My mod senses have been tickling however, since I just sold a few things on eBay (old clothes too big for me now :) ) and can use the money for only paypal purposes.... let the next mod come.
I'll prob just get something cheap to hold me over but I've been getting the urge.

---

Bodykit pieces have been popping up everywhere, so I may do something to set my FX apart from the pack aka those with the full aero, even though an Fx50 with full aero is still hard to come by, I want to be different lol. Something simple like a splitter for the front/diffuser for back/canards, aka things that can arguably actually add to the downforce/aerodynamacy of the beast on the highway. (besides spending a lot of Ca$H on coil overs)

I still want FUNCTION, with form too of course. Seeing a few other members' body kits and stuff recently while exploring has peaked my interest. We'll see though, I may get over it in the ext few days (aka after seeing prices add up) One of my classes just ended so now my time freed up a bit, but still only have a few weeks til I start studying for finals, so it may be nice to take a weekend to play with the FX. I'll try and keep the thread going; you know I love iS. Still rocking that sticker!

I'm posting These and others in the bodykit thread, but just a few things I was looking at.
Was thinking of modding this to fit with the factory aero:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/09-10-11-12...s&fits=Model:FX50&hash=item416fb61c54&vxp=mtr

And doing something with this because I saw a similar lip spoiler on a cayenne and actually didn't mind the look.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/09-UP-INFIN...Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e75dd3345&vxp=mtr

dont really love the second thing, really looking at something like the first. It's not too wannabe racecar like the finned ones, but I think I like how it looks. I wish there were more pics. To be clear, just the bottom portion that wraps the exhaust tips

I know, I know, they are arguably worthless "add ons" and a bit ricey, and probably wont help with aerodynamacy at all. I'm looking for splitters but only finding ones for other SUVs or universal ones... so may go that route and mod to fit with the front aero lip.
It's probably just a phase though. Don't take anything above too seriously haha.

---

Also I was thinking of adding the chrome foglight bezels from the newer models (it fits, saw it on the .org) it costs $100 for the pair, and they line up with the older ones just fine, it's just a matter of getting down there. (look here:http://infinitifx.org/viewtopic.php...&sid=c266905e7a86451594be68a9fd1e7934#p293504)

available here: http://www.infinitipartsusa.com/Ite...ezel-p/622571ca0a-1446982-290509.htm?CartID=2

Of course mine would look diff / better with the aero lip. I only want the outside "ring" chrome so will prob paint over the rest of it in plastidip to match the plastic down there. It may need trimming to fit because of the lip but I'll see. I think it adds to the front nicely while updating it a bit.

but maybe performance? Maybe pay my friends GTspec a visit..

What ever happend to the Vossen wheels idea.....Those are killing man...!! Look great. Other idea IMO is lowering.....it is still a bit to high for my liking. Further still love your car and its color.

Maybe you should do an exhaust.
Sent from my iPad

I'm fine with how it sounds with the muffler delete for now. Until there are more options I'll probably stick with that.

I don't feel like spending ~$4k for new wheels right now; I don't mind the modified-stock look as of right now. the problem is I can't find wheels I like for what I want to pay. Also those vossens are all over now; I want something different.

I was also thinking this summer of finally getting the UpRev done, maybe with an actual exhaust. We'll see.
Like I said, I may be selling it to pay for an apartment. Don't want to go too crazy right now only to flip it early summer.

Got a much needed wash & wax after around a month or so of neglect (dealer wash lasted a day since it snowed) and the drive to Toronto and back to Buffalo.

Love what you done to the wheel.

Thanks guys.
I like how the wheels came out too. Not bad for an afternoon's work. they are starting to show some wear around two of the center caps from when I had the wheels balanced. May respray this summer if I dont go aftermarket/sell the car

I thought MSPaint came standard on all computers? I kid I kid.

To go back to the foglight bezel trim, It came out to $88 on Infinitipartsusa / $20ish cheaper than the dealer
only issue is whether I can install it easily at school or if I should wait until I'm home for the summer to do the install. (not necessary to pay someone)
going to hit the PS request thread to see if I like the look before pulling the trigger. Again, I only want the ring around the egg-shape foglight opening, I don't want the chrome on the inside of that area so I'm going to plastidip/paint the inside portion before installing it.

Otherwise, This summer I may go with the UpRev dyno tune if It's really worth the price (need to check the other threads for results...havent been on in a while)

But the next month and a half are going to turn into studying for finals so it's prob best if I wait until the summer for anything anyway...

Just purchased a GTspec front strut bar from user Ethan, and the chrome foglight trim. Playing with the car a bit will be a nice distraction from studying for finals! Now that megan seems to have coilovers coming out for the 2nd gens, that may need to be the next big mod when they come out (If I end up keeping the car) for now a few smaller things should feed the mod bug

Weather was nice and had some free time today - installed the GTSpec STB

DIY here: https://www.infinitiscene.com/searc...t-Tower-Brace-(STB)-on-a-2009-FX50-time-1-2hr

It was kind of a PITA since I had not really worked on the FX50's engine before. Getting to the bolts was annoying and frustrating. But, in the end it all counts.

Got my hands dirty....

First impressions:

I remember it being just as great on my 1st gen.

took the FX out for about 15 min - took some turns etc that I usually take at certain speeds - I can definitely feel the difference. It feels more willing to take turns, the steering on turns feels better - Maybe more connected? maybe "lighter" / not as "floaty"?
my OCD/sensitivity can feel a difference and That's all I ask after investing a few bucks and a few hours of my time.
I think to speak in technical terms it helps to reduce the understeer

I forgot how great it feels to play with your car then take it out for a drive --- or maybe It's the nice weather reminding me of summer?

Either way, I'm happy with the results. Will prob get a rear brace come summer.

Next: Chrome foglight trim (should be in by monday)
