I think the KDW's are summer tires, if that helps. I've always been a fan though. Tread is awesome!

The guy at DT offered the KDW's as an option for me, but they are too American muscle car-ish for me. Great looking thread, but I don't think it would work on an FX. Maybe on a Chargers, Camaros, Trailblazer SS, etc. it would look nice.

tire rack has the stock size kdw (2) for $179
but discount tire is selling the kdw (N/T) for $202

is there a difference from the kdw 2 and the kdw n/t?
hopefully they will match tireracks price though.

KW2s are sooo cool looking. If money's no object, give it a try. Otherwise RH06 is a hellla fun tire, . at least in a 35 series, which is a completly diffrnt animal in it's build. Cant confirm how good the 20s are, but they're a safe bet for the money.

the BFs will also wear quicker

Sadly, I am having to return my Nitto 420S to DT. They caused the steering wheel to shake and vibrate very bad at around 55-65 MPH. I took it back and they tried to turn the tires and reseat them and re balance them and that still didn't fix the problem.
So now i cant decide between the RH06 or the BFG KDW?!!!!?!?!?!

FWIW I had the same problem after swapping out my RSAs to the RH06s. I took the car to the dealer to have them mount and balance. When i got the car back from them and hit the highway I noticed vibrations around the 60mph mark. I took the car back to the dealer the next day to have them re-balance and again as soon as I hit the highway, I felt vibrations on the steering wheel right around the same speed once again. As pissed off as I was I looked on the forums to find a solution and luckily I found the Steering Wheel Shake DIY. After a slight adjustment on the steering wheel nut, just a very small turn, I was able to get the steering wheel to stop vibrating! For whatever reason the steering wheel on our cars seem to be tuned to the stock RSA tires. Hopefully this information helps you and others in the future.

I just got the kdw's put on yesterday and mucho better. No vibrations or shaking steering wheel. They are a tad bit louder than the nittos but there a summer high per tire. These are some sticky tires all right. And the tread looks hella mean. Thanks for the help and input fellas!

hey all, looking to get a set of new tires.
Anyone have any advice on the Kumho Ecsta STX?
Good brand? (I'd be going with the stock size 265/50/20)

i came across a set of used Toyo Proxes S/T, the owner is claiming 90-95% tread (i'll measure to verify). The full set of 4 is only $300. I "need" 2 tires, but would prefer to buy all 4 if i can get them for the same price. looking around here, i see a lot of complaints about these tires being loud & humming...

any current/previous owners of these tires please feel free to give some feedback asap. i'm meeting the guy in a couple of hours to buy!

thanks!

been driving around past 38k in yokohama yk520's, tires were good but they did not last my expectations -both sets of tires before this lasted 50k -now I'm at 138k, & am planning to change 520's at 140k. i am probably going to go with Parada SpecX, based on reviews in the forum, am i better going with the size of 265 or 285? right now i am running 265/50R-20. Also anyone know cheapest place to get em'?

Have about 40K miles on Hankook RHO6's and they're horrible. Avoid like the plague. They have zero traction in the wet. Rears break loose easily and braking is very much compromised almost to the point of being unsafe. Fair warning!

When was the onset of the poor traction, ie did it worsen over time? 40k on tires is a lot and being rwd will give you traction issues in the wet.

Yes, over time, but they were never, ever, brilliant in the wet by any stretch of the imagination. Average on hydroplaning resistance too...I had Goodyear Eagle F1's on my Evo and they were far superior in hydroplaning than the Hankooks were, even brand new (on a lighter vehicle with ultra low profile tires). And wet traction under acceleration is very poor. Even when new, the tires would easily break loose under part throttle and the TC would kick in. They still have a bit less than half their tread left now but I'll be dumping them soon regardless. I just did the math and the tires have 33K on them. 40K was a rough guess.
