I used drivers mode for the first time yesterday lol. Yeah I know I'm late. But I usually never have time to screw with things like that. Anyways I'm going to start driving more often in drivers sport mode from now on. What a day and nights difference compared to the normal drive mode. The throttle is more responsive and the shift points are better. Also the sounds the engine makes when it does the downshift rev matching is sweet. I was doing like 70 and I was at like 2200 rpm and it downshift reved to 4000 and the sounds were unbelievable :eek.:

Just thought I'd share

Yeah I was using DS until winter hit...too slick right now for me to switch, but can't wait for summer to come! :)

I was wondering if DS mode uses gas more?? I figured it would since regular drive mode is optimized more for better MPG's

Yeah for sure....I call regular mode fuel save mode and DS more like regular driving actually. Sometimes if I am in DS mode and switch back to normal, I'll notice the trans shift down 4 times! to get back to lowest possible gear to save as much gas as possible. So if you are driving just to relax and don't feel like going fast, save the gas and keep it regular imo.

I'm always in paddles and DS in the 50. Just to much fun. Still wish our fx's had six speed manuals. But I never not drive in manual mode in our 45. In the 35, I Just leave it in drive because it doesnt have rev matching and it's kind of an annoying transmission. Haha.

I actually don't like using the paddles because the delay is so huge. I'm used to when I want to shift it shifts not shift a paddle and wait a second and then it shifts. Almost like if u are going fast then u have to hit the paddle wayyyyy before you really typically would so u can shift on time

You guys don't find that annoying? On the Ferraris when u paddle shift it shifts in like .10 seconds or something basically faster than u could with a manual. This thing paddle shifts in like 2 seconds so to me it's useless unless u guys have some secret I'm not aware of!?? :)

I use it quite a lot especially when we are on some nice tight twisty roads.
Aaron, I really find it amazing you have not used it until now. I figured you of all people have tried and thoroughly tested every option and feature available on our rides.

Lol yeah I know, I just used it for the first time. I drive in some stop and go traffic, so I never really had a chance to use it up until now. In stop and go traffic it makes the throttle too sensitive. I tried it on the ramps and highways the other day. Such a sweet feature. I use the paddles before, but I don't really care for the delay in shifts. People complained about the delaying of shifts using the paddles on the G37 too.

The book recommends it a lot on twisty roads like Gee35fx mentioned. But it's also fun on the highway :-)

For the 09 FX with paddles, I assume that the shift delay with paddles are the same as with manual shifting with the shifter stick?

My guess is yes. The delay at least on my fx appears the same in both cases

Hmm. I was under the impression that if you are in a higher gear you save on gas. Like when I am doing 55-60 in the regular mode and I shift to DS and when I upshift I go to 6 which means the regular mode had the car running on 5. I would think moving up to the 6th and 7th would save more gas.. Also I was driving a M loaner and when you shift to DS it shows you the gear not the DS that shows up on our FX, I like that more.

Right on, I agree, downshifting will put the revs up higher which is good for slowing down using engine braking or putting the engine in a more optimum RPM for quicker acceleration and staying near the peak powerband for added performance. This will use more gas.
Running in a higher gear will save gas, as long as you aren't lugging the motor.

Methinks, at least on the first gen fx, when you go to S mode it automatically brings it down a gear. So for example, if i'm cruising at 65 mph in D and bring it to S, it will read "4th" gear but in reality i was in 5th gear using D

That's what I was thinking. Every time I switch over into drivers sport mode it automatically downshifts to a lower gear which probably explains the sudden boost of power and acceleration.
