No offense but dropped fx's look corny

I've always have been a fan of leaving an automobile completely bone stock, it just looks sophisticated that way, imho.

I've never understood the concept of dropping a fx. Is it a cosmetic/comfort thing, a less stiffer, abrasive ride perhaps?

To me though, the dropped fx's seem to lose alot've the characterisitc 'bionic cheetah' look that they've been branded with.

I absolutely adore the 20 inch stock wheel and rims, as it sold me on the fx, especially when they are free of the break dust debris.

Also, while im confessing, 18's on the fx are a no no! *gasp* :eek:
 
Because a lot of us hate the wheel gap. But I sort of agree that it does take away the utility of the FX when you lower it because SUV's are made for good ground clearance. But remember were also driving sports cars within ;)


And a lot of high class sophisticated cars are low from the start. It has nothing to do with that.
 
Most people can't even tell a lowered FX from a stock one. Lowering make a subtle difference in appearance.

I don't see how a lowered FX would look anymore corny than a stock one. They both look the same.
 
No doubt most people that have tried the H&R or Eibach springs will also report improved ride quality. The owners that have switched to adjustable coil-overs will also tell you there's no comparison in feel, because you can dial it in to your preferences.

As an added aero benefit, lowering also improves mpgs - not by a huge amount but to a measurable savings over a year of driving.

Finally there is the aesthetic. I admit trying out the Eibachs for the lowered look, but was pleasantly surprised to find the ride quality significantly improved. While the FX is an SUV, I live in Texas and don't ever deal with winter conditions, nor do I take it off road. I don't need the height for any practical purpose so if the ground clearance is the same as most cars, that's no impact to me. Other people in other parts of the country might deal with environments I do not.

Going to coil-overs allowed me to drop the ride more than the wheels allow, so I found a height that looks good (to me) with the stock rims, then dialed in the dampening for my own driving habits. Honestly I don't think most people even know my FX is dropped, unless they know the car. These are the BC Coilovers, not set to the lowest height.

everyones entitled to there own opinion, I know a lot of people who feel the same way as you, they would never think of lowering, changing wheels, nothing. the car is the way it's supposed to be from the factory... that's probably more "normal" than the alternative, more cars are left stock than not....
 
what little utiliy you can get out of fx is good enough, lowering creates a different ride, this aint no rice rocket honda that is bouncing all over the freeways, but a subtle drop is okay, opinionated yes but hey we are all subject to our own opinion, would you consider raising your fx??
 
I've recently lowered my fx and the ride quality is like day and night. Car doesn't feel like a boat and people do notice that the fx is somewhat different. maybe the guy above should do little more research. but then again everyone has there own opinion.:err:
 
No offense taken at all. I was against lowering for a while too but eventually changed my mind. I can understand where you are coming from and welcome the difference in opinion. It also ensures that we don't all have the exact same setup. We all get to be slightly unique. :)
 
if you compare cars to women, the stock look is all virginal, prissy & proper, conventional & pure... I guess personally, I prefer my car to be way more slutty than that:tongue (2):
