Upgraded my subwoofer...

Looks nice mike. Do you find that it takes up too much room?

Also loved the java color, but hated how the dash was half black and half java. If they only had the seats in java and everything else black, I would have ended up with that.

To be honest, I think you could get away with one 10" sub if you are not going to upgrade the rest of the system, and save some space. My only requirement was to fit my hockey equipment, If I need more space, disconnect two wires, and out comes the box. For me this set up work's.

How do u have this powering the sub and all the speakers? The two subs I have, I need the large amp just for the subs alone. I have a class d amp. Can I do a setup likes yours? Aren't you more likely to blow your stock speakers? Did you have to cut any wires so if something happened, the dealer couldn't find any tampering? Dont you have a cap so your lights dont dim and dont put such a strain on your battery over time? What gauge wire did you run? A DIY guide would be really great if u could.

I think it's too big for new Fx=(

More details please! I'm getting excited over the possibility that I might be able to get my old sounds back in without too much hassle.

I'm the thinking this item is from Russia..... seems like all the good stuff is there for the 2Gs.

One good man does such boxes for 1gen Infinity Fx. I am the only owner of 2 gen Infiniti Fx who put a box (stealth) in my ride. It costs 35 000 rub or 1200$ for box (stealth)? subwoofer, amp, wire and instalation.
here is DIY:

and here is theme on www.Club-fx.ru were is all information about subwoofers for 1gen and 2 gen's:

If you need more infirmation write there to DMG he will give more information, and also he could send stealth to US

SayHitoMike - where did you set your sub-amp crossover at? I haven't found any information on what frequency the factory bose sub is set to, and i'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on installing my JL setup.

Thanks George for your post...very interesting.

SayHitoMike- Where are you at? We have lots of questions for you! lol

Everybody->

I stopped by a professional install place. Full fiberglass would run > $1,000k, but they could do back fiberglass and mold it in so the seats can fold back and I could still use the cargo organizer for the whole thing $500 with install. I have a MTX 7500 2 10'' subs and a big MTX class D mono amp.

I asked about switching out the factory amp like what appears Mikey did, but he said you will lose the center bose speaker in the dash that way unless you got a second amp or did some blah blah which sounded so crazy I got lost in the conversation, but they said it wouldn't be a good way of doing....I wish I knew what they were saying. Anyway, so I'm thinking of leaving the factory amp since I don't want to lose the center bose speaker and then just get this molded side sub and he would put the amp in that area also.

what you guys think?

I say go for it if you want more sound, but personally I'm leaving mine alone.. Adding subs eventually cause more rattle.

That's pretty much what I'm thinking of doing. Just adding a sub/sub amp combo to the factory Bose system to help out the bottom end. I did this in m last car (Lexus IS250) and it turned out great. I like Bose system in my FX a lot, but it does struggle with deep low-end.
I agree with SayHiToMike, I think a single 10" sub with amp would do the trick. A single 12" or 2 10"s might overwhelm the Bose system.

I added a 12'' sub and kept everything else stock and it works well. I instaled a knob so i can adjust how much it hits. I love having the option to get more base when i want it. ill take some pics and try to get them up.

Yeah, I'm thinking just the one sub and amp....In the mustang I had the two MTX 7500 subs and MTX Thunder 5601 amp....they are all big...look at the pictures:

Found this pic of my amp on the internet: it's the one on the left....see it's big, but awesome.

I'm a little worried about the large amp fitting. The gain will probably need to be at like 15% lol for this one sub because in the mustang, when it was powering these two massive MTX subs, the gain was at about 25-30% before it started overpowering way too much the mach 460 stereo system. The install guys mentioned they would probably disconnect the factory sub from the amp because it will drown it out anyway and you'd get much much cleaner bass out of the MTX. The capacitor I guess I won't use, but I remember I had issues with the lights dimming int he mustang in the dark, but the install guys think it won't be as much of an issue because it will only be one sub and also the alternator in the infiniti with all the electronics is better.

I'm still worried now about the large amp fitting because I want the back seats to be able to recline back really really far so users in the back can be very comfortable.....hmmmm not sure where else to put an amp like this....any ideas????

The guys said if i replaced the factory amp that's by the spare, 1) I would lose the center bose speaker in the dash from working and 2) without changing all the speakers, you'd really not notice as much of a difference as you'd think. Yeah it will be cleaner a little, but it's the same speakers and you lose one speaker the center one that fills the center of the car. To really have amazing sound would be to switch the speakers out which i'm not going to do. That's why I'm interested to see Mikey's DIY, because I wouldn't be a fan of losing one speaker and also just increasing chances of blowing the factory bose speakers after doing that.

Everything I'm saying, does it make sense to you guys that have already done this? These install guys seemed really really really experienced with what they were talking about. One guy has been doing it 21 years the other 14 years installs and are mechanic whatever the acronym is certified also. They also said most likely the factory amp wasn't removed but this crossover or some other thing attached to it...dam it forgot the name....the thing in the spare is that the sub amp only? If that is the case, i'm wondering why not remove that then if they were thinking of disconnecting the factory sub anyway. although the mtx amp wont fit there I'm sure :(
