It's been a while since i updated you guys on my Miata which was the inspiration for the start of this thread. I've been a busy guy - which is why I've been MIA from working on the FX. Never fear though - FX project are in work!
At the end of the summer I decided to finally hit paint & body.
The total cost was about 40% more than what I paid when I purchased the car but I'm totally happy.

So we got a new motor, a new paint job... the only thing left would be a new interior. Covered that entirely DIY. There is so much support out there for the Miata and the parts are so inexpensive because of their size... I doubt this will be the only Miata I own.
Since this photo I blacked out the speaker grill:
A couple more details are in work - the red gauge bezel with silver gauge rings is going to change to a black bezel with red rings.
The gunmetal NRG steering wheel center cap is going to become a classic Miata horn button and I'm getting a matching nose badge.
I'm really enjoying the car as a commuter and she gets great mileage even when I've got my foot in it. Full tank for less than $30 is nice. I've been looking at both supercharger and turbo kits for the car but want to drive it like this for a while longer. I feel a huge upgrade in power since the rebuilt motor was swapped in - 17whp more according to the dyno. I'm adding a Racing Beat header (on the way) and a Magnaflow cat (already have it) as well as a harness bar and multiple point harnesses. I'm thinking after that stuff is done over the holidays, the Miata will be at a stopping point. I plan to drive her daily while the FX goes in for the motor swap and turbo install.
