Service engine soon code U1000

I searched google for it and came up with some results:

U1000 SCP (J1850) Invalid or Missing Data for Primary Id

This usually indicates a module that is currently not communicating or a configuration issue. The car's computers are trying to talk to each other and one of them is having trouble. It has to do with the wiring harness so its possible has come loose and needs to be re tightened or could be a loose ground.

That's what a lot of other threads are saying for this code and they all recommend taking it to the dealer to get it checked out.

Here's another option you can try:

The code identifies a high resistance in a couple of grounding circuits as the culprit. The simple fix is to clean and tighten the grounding posts for the battery and ECM. Hope this is your problem as it really is very minor.

U1000:

SCP (J1850) Invalid or Missing Data for Primary Id

Has something to do with a loose ground wire.

Looks like there is a TSB for it, check it with your dealer.

I cleaned the 3 ground connections I found and re-tightned them. The service engine is still on. Is this suppose to be reseted to find out if the service light goes off or is it still on cause I didnt fix anything?

I have this condition also...I believe Psiclne had this issue a long time ago.

Metro Infiniti's Cheryl quoted me $1000 (with an IS discount) to repair this grounding issue. There are 2 more grounding points up underneath the dash that are almost impossible to get to unless the dash is removed. That is where my issue lies (according to the master tech).

The service light WILL go away after 20-25 clean starts where the ECU does not see the issue again. Everytime I get a service at Metro, I have them check for that code....it will usually come up once in 3 service intervals(12000 miles)...not enough for me to go get it fixed for $1000.

Im gonna have to take it in. I read about that behind the dash thing on another 4um as well. It should be covered with my warranty, I hope. Otherwise Ima tell them to go fvck themselves and tear up my dash.:mad.:

Did you have your dash replaced under waranty? If so maybe something accidentally was pulled/tugged/loosened. If so then there should be no money out of pocket...at least that is what I would say.

I dont know if there was dash work as I just purchased this last dec. But I think this woulda lit up by then. I did change the cabin filter last March. Who knows.
Anyway I bought the extended warranty so I should be fine.

Anyone know if these ground wires are in the vicinity of the cabin filter?

Just FYI, my service engine light went off last Wed. after 3 days with it on. Hasnt gone on since. Should I still bring it to the stealer?

Like I posted above....the SES light will go out after 20-25 "clean starts" The code is still there as it is a hard code, it doesn't disappear. I gaurantee you, it will eventually come back...The dealer will be able to pull it at anytime and tell you how many times this code has been triggered, even if you think the SES has been cleared..it hasn't.

You can wait till it triggers again, but that could be months down the line. Just take it in...you're still under warranty..I wish I was.
