OEM Rear Spoiler / Aero Kit

How old is "among the oldest members here"? LOL. Is the bodykit worth a few years? (ie, will it make people think I'm younger?)
hahaha, I'm 62 years young.
As far as I'm concerned, get the kit, no matter how old you are.

 smart ass
Did you order your Aero kit yet Ian?

wait until you get to meet him in person!

62 does seem much, but when you are hanging out with him in person, feels like he's just like any of the 20 year old guys you are hanging out with. I hope to be just like that when I get older!

Thanks Jonas:smile (2):

My wife won't wait until iPad 3 comes out

How much were these rear pieces Lerry? I'm about to bite the bullet on these.

Only thing I'm not doing is the side skirts. They look too awkward.

You won't be able to use uyour splash guards then.
Aaron does your ICC work okay as I said it would with the front spoiler?

I think I might be able to give up my splash guards. If the rear spoiler pieces are a good price I'll bite.

Yup, everything is working good still. No interference with the ICC or DCA sensor on the front. Drove about 500 miles with it on so far.

I've driven at probably 15,000 miles with mine and have never had a problem. Give Rick a call for the rear spats.

Aero Kit and Tech Package

Just a heads up for all the Tech guys... looks like we can get away with installing the front spoiler with no issues!

I got my Aero Kit installed last week by Sewell Infiniti and haven't had any issues with the ICC or DCA. Lane departure works fine too. They also tested it themselves before drilling the holes. They did say that it would void the warranty if something goes wrong with the sensor in the future though, but doubt that it should have any issues.

So I guess I jinxed myself... My DCA and ICC crapped out on me today. Looks like I'll be taking my car back to the dealer to check it out. They'll probably tell me to take the front spoiler off even though I got it got it installed last week. What a bummer... I'll keep you guys updated to see if there's any way to modify the front spoiler to make it work with the sensor, assuming it isn't fried. Any suggestions???

What do you mean "crapped out" ????

There are like 3 others members on here including myself that have the front lip installed and I have the DCA and ICC sensor with no problems at all. I put about 1,200 miles on my car since then without any issues.

KidAlexro,

Something completely out of the ordinary is going on with your FX or your dealership.....DCA, ICC crapping out....then you mentioned in another thread that remote start fried your ECU after some time....all this is not normal and not even remotely an issue with our FXs after these kind of mods.

So when I press the DCA button, my car makes a beeping sound and the "DCA" indicator on the LED info screen and the green indicator inside the tachometer both flash, and the system doesn't activate. Instead, both indicators keep flashing. I can't activate the ICC either, it ends up canceling the function. It worked perfectly for the first 3 days I got the Aero kit installed and half of this morning. During my drive to work though, it started beeping and flashing every time I tried to activate the DCA. I tried cleaning the sensor, restarting the car, activating in low light vs daylight, but nothing seems to change. Am I missing something here? I really hope I'm just doing something stupid and that it still works!

KidAlexro,

The ECU was fried on my old car (2006 FX45) according to my dealer (Herb Chambers in Boston) from the remote starter. Other than that, I never had any issues with my old car. I recently moved to Dallas and upgraded to a 2010 FX50S (bought at Sewell Infiniti here in Dallas), which was Infiniti Certified Pre-Owned, and I even bought the extended warranty from Infiniti (through the dealer). Hopefully, it's not the Aero Kit that is causing the problems with the DCC cuz it looks soooo much better with it on, but I'm worried it may have something to do with it since Infiniti recommends not to put it on with the Tech Package. The dealer also did mention that the warranty for the DCA would be voided if the Aero Kit went on, but that was only mentioned briefly over the phone (after they said they drove around with the front spoiler taped on and said everything worked fine and doubted it should cause any problems). Nothing was given to me in writing regarding the voiding of the warranty though.

On another note, the auto rain sensor doesn't work either, but I'm pretty sure that was already an issue before the Aero Kit went on, and since the sensor is in the rear view mirror. The lane departure warning works fine, but again the sensor is at the top of the windshield. However, the Lane Departure Prevention doesn't work since the DCA has to be activated to enable it. Basically, everything that is associated with the sensor behind the Aero Kit doesn't work anymore!!! Anybody heard of someone else having issues with the DCA/ICC with the Aero Kit installed?

This is incorrect. You can have LDP on with DCA off. I've done it before.

DCA/ICC will turn off if there is snow blocking the sensor or if you get direct sunlight into it, or I've seen it even go off if it's raining really hard and the sensor has a hard time working. Maybe when you tried, it was in direct sunlight coincidentally?

We have numerous members here that have been using the front aero kit for a very long time (some approaching 1 year I believe with > 10,000 miles with tech packages on their 09+ without any issues that you are reporting. Something else must be causing these issue for you.

Yeah, it was sunny when it first started to not work. I've tried activating it multiple times since in every lighting condition (at night, indoor light, shade, etc) and at every speed (highway, standing still, crawling, 35mph, etc). I just taped a dark piece of paper to cover the painted part of the front spoiler in front of the sensor since it's white, but no luck. Any other suggestions? I've been searching the Internet but don't see anything online regarding this issue other than what's posted here. Thanks for all of your input!

BTW, anyone know how the sensor down there works? It looks like it might send out a laser or some sort of infrared beam since the top half of the box is a dark clear plastic. Not sure what the bottom half of the box does, maybe sonar or electrical stuff to run the top part of the box?

I agree with the others, it is probably some other issue causing the problem. As I said before my front spoiler has been installed for over 15,000 miles with no issues.

Is your FX white? Now I wonder if maybe the white may be conflicting. I don't know if there is a member out there that has tried an aero front with tech on a white FX yet. Anybody else know?

When I was originally researching the possibility of using the front spoiler with the tech package, I wondered if one of the problems that could occur would be the glare from the painted spoiler below the ICC sensor. But it never did cause a problem. If it did, I was going to apply some flat colored tape on the spoiler directly below the sensor, and if that helped I was going to paint that small area a matte finish.
You could try applying a strip of 2" masking tape painted flat black directly below the sensor. I still think there is another reason for your problem.
Edit. Oops, I didn't read all your post, I see you already tried the tape.

Some guy that had an M56 in service and had the front aero kit with no issues and his was white.

I really don't think it has anything to do with the front aero kit. Mine is black and when clean the paint is highly reflective and yet I have no issues.
