BBK GB feeler thread

Hey Lance i know you havent been doing much driving but what is the braking like? try to take video's too.

It would be awesome if you could hire a film crew!

Maybe you can get sponsored by JBT, get some JBT decals across your car=)

Becareful when you clean the rotors, especially when you didn't bed them yet. If you are driving a lot and heat up the rotors, cold water hitting directly on your rotors = bad news.

Did I scare you enough lance??? =)

Need to hit the bed in process today!

When I did the bed in, there were some oils or left over cleaners inside the rotor. When that rotor heats up during the bed in process, any residual chemicals are going to burn off. Mine smoked like a mother. I really thought I was leaking brake fluid onto the rotors and that was causing the smoke. But after pulling over and checking all four corners... no leaks. Sort of scared me.

Snuck out of the office to "pick up stamps" and quickly drove down to a fairly quiet road that runs parallel to an air strip. Up to 60 down to 5, 10 times cool off, then ran the same pattern. First round at interval five the brakes smoked like the car was on fire (just like you said Brad) some one drove by me and had to wonder what was going on......

My only concern about the process was if I stood on the brakes hard enough. I went for Hard decceleration but w/no anti lock. Hate to screw these up! Definitely can hear the cross drill on braking now. It's a soft woosh sound, not bad and only at around 20-30 to zero, over and under it is not noticeable.

Hey I'm free today. I can swing by your office and finish that bed in process for you while you sip on coffee ;;)

1) I had the smoke/burning -- that is a good thing.

2) Woosh sound, you learn to love it. I have even more of a sound with the slots.

3) My rotors luckily came with temperature paint, I knew I did it right when the colors changed.

4) Sounds like you did it right, you should be fine. If your brakes start to squeak, re-bed your brakes. It will get the glaze off, and therefore the squeal.

What stamps did you get btw? :smile (2):

Hah! Forever stamps of course

If I do re-bed them I'll go down either early in the morning or late at night, having any cars around is just awkward (and potentially dangerous)

Yeah, I heated up the rotors and wanted to cruise and not stop to cool them down to avoid any hot spots.

If you have to stop, come to a complete stop and throw it into park to avoid having too much pressure of the brake onto the rotor -- at least I think that helps... Maybe not.
