hate to ask a really dumb question, but how come no one likes to use the fram and prefers the OEM?

oh off topic question: does anyone know the size of the glove box light? does it ever turn on? neither my fx35 nor the g37 loaner glove box light turns on...

I just prefer the grape polyphenol OEM filters over the Fram filters. The filter is made from grape seed extract and really helps with my allergies. But if your wanting to save some cash you could use those Fram filters if you want.

I forgot what the size is but I changed my glovebox light to an LED bulb. The glovebox light only turns on when the headlights are on so try that. Any other time it stays off.

In addition to the comment above, Fram filters are of exceedingly poor quality be it an air or oil filter. You'd be hard pressed to find a lesser option. That's why no one likes them.

Hey FireOnic3......great write up. I just completed this filter change for the first time and it was extremely easy to complete. You just saved me about $200!!! And I can't thank your enough. Not sure how to thank someone on here???? But many thanks to you for taking the time to write something like is up to share with all of us. I am not much of a car service person (hands on wise) and this was even easy for me to do.

Many thanks again,
Brandon :top:

That link for eBay doesn't work anymore. I'd want that grape propynol filter. Any other links that sell this? What about the FRAM Fresh Breeze stuff?

Perfect, thanks Zebra. This looks like it could work for pretty much all the Infiniti's .. "FACTORY OEM - CHARCOAL INFUSED - IN CABIN MICRO FILTER - INFINITI G35, G37, EX35" OCInfiniti has a lot of other stuff to look into also.

Any objective evidence that Fram filters are of exceedingly poor quality? I know a lot of people using them. I do too. This grape seed extract is hardly anything but a marketing gimmick. There is no evidence that it does anything beneficial in a car filter (or in anything else).

I don't know about others but I have really terrible allergies and as soon as I hit the recirculation button with the grape seed filter in I feel like I can breath better. Also I've use the regular paper filter and compared to the grape seed filter it filters fumes out better too. If you do a side by side comparison you'll also notice that the grape seed filter has more dense fibers than the regular filter. The regular filter just like the FRAM filters feel cheap in comparison.

There's nothing to really complain about. It's a $30 filter that you only change every 15K miles.

Are the microfilter links provided for 1st gen FX's also?

Just replaced my filter in my FX50 today. Thanks for the write up, very helpful!

A couple things to note.

I bought my filter from Infinitipartsusa.com, who I believe is a dealership in Pheonix, for 34 dollars. I pulled the part number right out of the FX50 service guide they have online to verify. Same filter without a doubt. However nothing indicates Grape Polyphenol. No filter for the Infiniti FX50 anywhere says this either. The "best" are the carbon infused microfiber filters. I suspect that the grape terminology has either been removed or something else has changed. In any event the filters are identical.

Cheers.

Thanks for the write-up. Just completed this and upgraded to the FX50 grape filter. Easy peasy.

Typical.

I did mine for $5.00 with an after market filter + 10 minutes.

Interesting to note, some 2003 FX45's did not come with a filter from the factory! So for me, any filter is better than OEM.... =)

Does the filter come out the same with 05's???

Just did this today on my '09 worked great, thanks for the write up.
I went with the Arm & Hammer filter $14, on Amazon.
