Jumbo's custom turbo build

Well if you seem to be driving in traffic so much why don't we trade FXs and I'll make some proper vids? eh? Good deal?

Haha your a teas man....!! How can you do his to me....almost the same set-up and not sharing these vids........damn...!!
I'll think twice in the future before sharing my dutch special places with you again :wink (2):

But thanks for the pics man......crystal clear now

Jumbo you're such a tease. Saving the best for last? We're ALL waiting!!!!!! We wanted to hear the your engine roar and tire chirps not the music... good bass though.

lol, sorry guys. I guess I'm just not the burn-out type. Never done it in my own car - did it in a rental Camaro a few times...

I also find it very difficult to video myself driving. Guess I would need to rig the camera up so I don't have to hold it.

The best way you guys are going to get what you want is if a meet goes down here in Houston and somebody takes the video - either from the passenger seat or from outside the car. I'm always down for meets. I've been to three inside the last ten days (which is how long I have had the FX back from the shop).

I will take the FX to the strip just to get some times and that will of course be a video - pending my wife's skills.

Have you ever had a car that would do it? Not like a "chirp the tires" burnout but a real "white smoke" burnout. It's sort of like heroin; Once you do a good line nothing else will satisfy the urge.

Jumbo! Do I need to take one for the team & come out to Houston to teach you how to throw some rubber around?

lol, awesome analogy. I have done it maybe a half dozen times, but never in one of my cars. In all cases I stood on the brake and hit the gas at the same time. My understanding was that the RWD power overcomes the small rear brakes but the biased larger front brakes hold you in place. Like I said - somebody else's car. Is there a better way on the FX? None of my past cars have ever had enough power to do it till well... now.

I can do it in the Miata but because I don't have a LSD, only one wheel spins. :embarrassed:

I'll kick in twenty bucks towards a set of disposable tires to see you smoke em'.

Ok go ahead and send the cash. I'll be sure to give you a shout out when all that goes down, lol.

Lol, yeah bro you might! I'm trying to get into autocross with my Miata but she's a manual and a totally different animal. This new FX setup is taking some getting used to. I expect we will be tweaking the tune for the next few weeks and I'll be learning how she responds. I want to get used to control before I purposefully start sliding around. To be straight, the new power scares me a little. My heart is seriously pumping after I get into a hard pull. I feel like I'm holding on to the steering wheel with the white knuckle grip of death. I think it's a good thing to respect the power. I want to grow into the car rather than bumping up against it's limits. If I'm going to play with the FX, it needs to be in the right place. Safe for me and safe for others, lol.

I have considered taking the FX to autocross but sort of don't want to punish the car like that. I am looking forward to a 1/4 mile timeslip. That will be another first for me - never been down the strip. Been to a few in person but never as a racer.

Jcas - maybe we should just meet up for a video? If you know a place I can burn out and you can video... I'm ready to give the people what they want.

Well, in YOUR fx a good old fashioned pedal to the floor launch will probably get you some smoke. Especially with your high stall TC. Personally I've never been fond of the power-braking method for the sake of the rear brake pads. That said, I've only managed a decent patch of rubber in a couple cars with auto-trannies. Both old heavy muscle cars... Most of the fun lies in trying.

Anytime you want to meet up for some videos I'm down. We can grab something to eat as wel, since there is not a better end to a night than eating junk food while breathing in the smell of burning rubber:laugh:. I start scooping out some locations, but if you want you tell me a place and i drive to you since your that -> way from me.

Errr.. logic is probably something like: why would you want to be going faster when you're applying the brakes?

Why would you be using both pedals simultaneously? Just before most people's right foot hits the brake pedal, it comes off the accelerator pedal. At that point there is no more that can be done to "cut power", as the throttle position is at "0". The only logic I can think of is to expressely prevent people from power-braking, which strikes me as an odd design inclusion to say the least. Why would they care enough to program that feature?
