What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

I swap out my 03 cluster with a 06+ cluster. Here is a pic of the 06+ cluster daytime. Can the cluster lights be dimmed during the day? I can only dim it when my headlights/parking light is on.

nice!!

left of the cluster the 06+ has a +/- dim button. you have to press the minus button a couple times before it even begins to dim. You can even shut it off the cluster lights if you want ;-)

How hard is it connect the gauge lighting yourself? The dealer replaced my dashboard last week and forgot to plug in the backlighting. I do not want to take my car in if I don't have to.

Hmm, I have tried the dim button. I'll tinker with it again. I know the dimming works when the headlight/parking light is on. Yeah, I know it can be shut off completely too. Thanks.

It not hard... 3 phillips screws underneath the steering column, pry the column top & bottom cover open , take the 4 10mm bolts off, unclip the turn signal and wiper stalks, lift the cluster up a little to undo the fabric and then the cable plug right there. Why not have your dealer fix that if they forgot. You swap out your 04 cluster too? There isn't a separate wire for the backlighting though.

How much did it cost? (Parts & Labor)
Did you get the 06+ cluster at the dealership?
I really like the 06+ cluster as it lights up and been wanting to do this...

I got the cluster off ebay about $100. Well, labor? It priceless, lol. I swap it myself. As stated by Turbocad, you just need to add one additional power to the none 06 wiring. None 06 has two power, whereas the 06+ has 3 power wires. Its is slot 4 on the plug.

My 06+ cluster is being delivered today from eBay too

What did you guys type into ebay?
I only see 05 clusters...
Maybe you guys took it all? lol :p
They don't come up often. Just keep an eye on it and search for infiniti fx cluster.

will swapping your cluster affect the number on the odometer?

Yes, your mileage will be whatever the new cluster is. I do believe there is away to correct it. I have not done any research on this yet. I went from 95K to 62K, lol. It will be a problem if I ever sell the car. I can always swap the 03 cluster back in. I don't think I will sell it though. Too much love went into it already

Nice find Jeff AND in my own backyard. I'd like to get my speedo calibrated, my smaller circumference 40's are throwing it off.

I tried what you suggested again. No change to the brightness and it cannot be shut off during the day. It dims and can be shut off when my headlight/parking(dtrl) is on. I just wanted to confirm if it's possible to dim it instead of full bright during the day. I can live with it if that is the "side effect" of having a 06+ cluster in my 03. The 06+ cluster is way better looking then my 03.
