I found water in my ECU harness. Plan was to push a new stock ECU tune and when disconnecting the OEM harness from the Haltech, water dripped out of the harness cover. I immediately stopped to figure out where it came from.

So I pop the hood and remove all the plastic trim around the battery compartment and I find the problem. The way water drains from the windshield, moisture is hitting harness wires and then running down through the rubber boot into the passenger side footwell. That boot now has five aftermarket wires running through it and it just isn't sealed well enough.

The problem? Turns out my windshield wipers are a little off! They stopped only after the wiper blade has gone completely off the glass onto the plastic trim - pushing the trim down and allowing water to run right into the battery compartment.

I adjusted the wipers - pretty easy. Then made a little harness/boot cover to divert any water that does come in from now on. I also covered a bit of the firewall with Dynamat to cover some of the open body holes near the windshield. Put everything back together and I'm pretty sure I fixed it. As for the harness, everything was unplugged and I stripped off the factory harness cover. Dried every wire from the connector all the way up to the boot in the firewall and left it for a couple hours like that to air dry more. The connector didn't get wet, luckily. Then put it all back together with some techflex.

A little scary, but I'm glad to know I caught it before anything fried.

Jumbo---silicone that plug area where the wires run through!

my FX is sitting at the dealer getting a nice big list of stuff done before it takes a 4 month nap While I'm in London...

-valve covers
-oil change
-brakes
-front two belts
-rear pass. door lock
-driver seat rail
-PDR paintless dent removal
-balance and alignment on wheels
-replace both 02 sensors @ cats
-Transmission service (fluid flush, etc)
-Coolant flush and replacement
-power steering check (flush and replac?)
-luuuuuuuuuuube
-(coilovers when I get back in december)
-other stupid things like sunroof creak, etc. + other maintenance stuff

Some stuff under warranty...others not. Hopefully the bill doesnt suck.
Sicne I'm under 21, my loaner is a 2011 corolla S...500 miles on it haha.

whatt that crazy I didn't know the dealer would do you like that and give you corolla.... at least its a S lol

you need to be 21 to get a loaner....the people who are young but know people get the corolla...better than nothing!
I;ve been driving my dad's jag around lmao

I took my bra off the front!

How old was your bra? I'm thinking about taking mine off, but it was such a pain to take off just the passenger side mirror clear bra.

I ordered a few parts that needed to be replaced, including the large under-body cover. It has taken a few hits in it's lifetime and has been plastic welded at least twice. With FI and the coil-overs, it was time for a new one. Infinitipartsusa was charging $105, which is about as low as I can remember seeing it.

Also got a bunch of those plastic retaining clips that hold the plastic surrounds to the battery and brake compartments. Over the years I have broken the bottoms off of those and dropped a couple down into the compartments never to be seen again. Glad to put in a fresh set - 10 for 8 bucks.

Is it strange I get as much happiness out of little things like this as I do?

got the correct tires installed on the rims that way they don't rub on the struts. I went from 285/45/22 yokohama parada spec 265/40/22 yokohama parada spec. love that i can turn and not have to worry people hearing a loud noise coming from my FX.

Changed my original battery today. Original battery lasted me almost 6 yrs and 104K miles, I think it's safety to say it was time.
