What did you do to your FX / QX70 today?

Last night I began color matching random parts (SRS buttons, grab handles, etc) to the suede headliner. Tonight I'm going to keep working on that and hopefully wire up my Avelectronics unit to the overhead screen, PS2 and iPod video.

I've done that myself in my previous truck. Came back to a pool in the cup holders and soaked seats. As long as you let the interior dry out completely, you shouldn't have any lingering odors and such.

Haha I did it too last year with my FX. Cupholder were also full and seats soaked. I had only had the FX for a couple months, and was very upset. It all eventually dried though, but did smell weird for a little while. Also, with my previous car, I accidentally opened the sunroof when my roof had about 4 inches of snow on it. All the snow poured in my car while I was driving with some friends. Although it sucked, it was a good laugh.

Changed my 3000K 9006 HID bulbs to 6000K bulbs for the summer.

Checked my oil and it was 1.5 quarts low??? What happened there? Good thing I checked it.

Dynomat trunk area and wash/wax car... still on back burner, back to baby duty.

Better check your plugs to see if you have an oil leak or burning oil there. :frown:

The VK's are known to burn oil. I was down one quart after about 4000k miles

Yeah, I might have sounded shocked, but not really:rolleyes:.

I typically have to top it off 1 qt every 4000k miles as aiya says, but I haven't had to in a while when I switched to Valvoline 5w-40 weight. I recently did Mobil 1 5w-30 and it seems to be burning through that faster, just so dang hard to find 5w-40 when you need it. I don't have to top off at all using 5w-40 for some reason.

Bought a case of Valvoline 5w-30 Full Synthetic Motor oil (12 quarts = $90 ), 1 Wix oil filter and two Gates belts.

Changed the oil, cleaned all the salt off the undercarriage, swapped to my 22's, put in a 15 A fuse for my center lighter (and what is going on there, it never worked and I found out that there wasn't even a fuse in there. Not even a blown fuse, just no fuse...) then ran out of time and had to feed the baby=)

Baby finally went to sleep again and swapped the BMW 325xi winter tires to massive 16 inch summer wheels:rolleyes:. Amazing how much easier and lighter 16's are vs 22's! Also swapped out winter floor mats to carpet in both cars.

I'm not sure if I'm a fan of putting wheels on bolts (Infiniti) or putting the wheel on the hub and the lugs being the studs (BMW), if that makes sense. A bit harder to line up the holes on the BMW.

To-do-list that I didn't get to finish for today.
1) Changes out belts on FX45
2) Lamin-x on FX45
3) Swap 3000K 9006 bulbs for 6000K 9006 bulbs for summer

The fuse box is near your left foot, drivers side.

On the back of the panel, there is a diagram on which is the fuse. There are also extra fuses and a fuse puller in the fuse panel itself.

Yesterday attempted to put the FX back together after putting in H&R spring. Still in process broke the sway bar link and had to cut off the bolt between the sprindle and the strut (it wouldn't come out after 2 hours of beating on it).

Never had such a problem with a newer car. Must be the light rust on everything from the FX's whole life in the snow.

Back to it later today after ordering some parts. Can't wait to see how low she will be. :)

No, I drive like a grandma (seriously, hauling a month old kid).

I also have VK45DE which burns oil vs your VQ35DE.

I do get more oil blow off in my oil catch when I did floor it to test the oil catch years ago, both engines could use an oil catch.

Today, I ordered the OEM cargo organizer for my FX. Found a few scratches on the seats!!! :tears:

Today, I committed to a full short block and long block build in addition to a fuel return system being added to my turbo & EMS custom build. I've already paid 50% of the total build - almost entirely in part costs.

It pretty much doubled the price but it should also guarantee the engine lasts as long as I want to keep my FX. I'm essentially building for 650 whp and purposefully picked a turbo that will top out between 500-550whp.

I think that's enough.
