Which mods do you regret?

My regret is purchasing and installing lowering springs on my 2nd Gen FX. Then I had to put the OEM springs back on because there is no kits available for camber correction :mad.:.

One of my regrets ties back in with Waynes spring fiasco..... I regret not offering up yearly tire cash so he could leave them on. Would have looked bad ass holding up a trophy fish with the FX dropped that little extra bit in the background. I feel your pain man.

LOL, thanks Lance, I really do wish I could have left them on. If so I could have used that tire cash on my trip across Canada and back to Ontario again from the west coast.

I must say though, the FX is one heck of a cruising machine, it was an absolute joy driving it on that trip and I'm still lovin it.

One of the components of my current exhaust setup will be added to this thread very soon. It sounds awful. :(

I regret replacing my stock rotors for drilled and slottedrotors. Now every time I have to stop short I can feel the brake pedal beingbumpy and also feel the grinding of the brakes.

+1. Definitely did not feel the slightest increase in performance either. I am thinking of getting the FX50 front brakes with regular rotors, but then i would have regular front and drilled/slotted rear...

I actually noticed a difference when I got my rotors swapped out for Stoptech drilled/slotted. Plus I did replace my braked pads with EBC Greenstuff pads which gave the brakes a bit of a bite. I also replaced the brake lines with stainless steel brake lines. Instill think the setup I have is better then the way it came with.

Regrets:

-Buying a bunch of bolt ons instead of saving up for FI.

among other things...
Subs, speakers, wheels, electronic gizmos, all of my performance mods, the exhaust fiasco, getting stuff painted, etc. it all adds up very quickly, you would be surprised.

To get back to this,

This is major reason I have not gone crazy with the new FX...its not worth it. I saw what happens when you do all of those little things here and they, most of which were pointless...this is why I try to share my experience with new members when the first thing they ask is "WHAT MODS SHOULD I DO" because I remember when I was there, and I didn't listen :) Now I try and do the same to new members by attempting to lead them in the right direction...:top:

I plan on just riding them out and when times comes I'm going back to stock rotors.

+1. I did the rotors, went with hawk ceramic pads, and the stop tec s.s. brake lines. Oh, and one more regret. I picked up the g2 caliper kit on ebay. The picture was copper. After I had them put on it came back bright orange.

Most of the mods that I did or going to do is because its wear and tear maintenance. But it’s the help from people like you that keeps me in check.
:playingball:
thank you and many thanks in advance.

I agree with JB in some ways, I mean I've been through this with many cars and I mean a lot and I've also learned long ago that a whole bunch of little bolt on mods don't really add up to all that much in the end, so I too for the 3+ years I drove my fx, did not bother doing any of the little bolt on stuff, no CAI, no plenum, no ecu tune, no nothing, but it was in anticipation of doing one big project like at least FI, original plan was a supercharger and the only thing I really did in prep for that was full exhaust and headers. if you know you want to really go advanced then don't bother wasting money on all the small stuff, BUT...

on the other hand, if you know that you will never wind up ever going that far then maybe some of the smaller mods are ok for you too, I mean it may satisfy your urge for doing "something", and truth is that small things can still be small gains here and there, so for some this may not be so bad, in the end you have to decide what it is that you really want out of it I guess :)

I kinda regret the TS flash because with the gas prices being so high... While, there was noticeably increase in power, the MPG's went from bad to $h!t... and it's not like I can take the mod out and sell it to someone else. My driving habits have changed over the years, so the extra power is meh' to me now:dontknow:

I also hate the LMS intake... it technically doesn't pass smog, and is a pain in the butt when the time comes to get my FX smog checked.
