SaleenOO,
U da Man! good call on the ground. I checked my ground buy looking at the voltage between both the parking brake wires that I cut and sure enough I didnt have any I moved the ground and I had about 4V. So the metal mount I used as a ground in there must not have been a OV ground. I changed it and Im good now!

Thanks again!

Dave

Glad we got it to work. :smug: Enjoy!

Hello to all. Great DIY. I am an Infiniti addict. I owned the 1st gen. FX, M35 now 2011 FX35, but right before I leased Mercedes ML350. Let me tell you guys, German's don't really care if you kill yourself while you are driving and program your navigation, searching the phone book or dialing your car phone. Believe it or not but I got used to this luxuries. Because my FX disables all these features while driving. I have one question to you guys. Basically I care only about the phone features do I have to do 1st or 2nd FIX?
Thanks for any replies and recommendations.

Mod Confirmed to work on a NAV equipped FX. I did it to mine yesterday and works perfectly. I figured out 2 ways to do this mod. Ill post and explain both and let you guys choose which one to do.

The two colored wires you are looking for are:

PINK - VSS (speed sensor) Cut and run a ON/OFF switch between.
PURPLE - Ground, Ground this wire the way it was explained on Page 1 for the NON-NAV units.

FIRST WAY: This is the normal way where only the NAV and A/V units are affected. This will allow you to input destinations while moving and also allow video to be displayed while moving (gotta ground the purple also for the video to work).

This is how the back of the NAV unit looks. The plug that we have to work with is squared off in red.

Here is a close up of the plug with the wires you will have to work with. The one i squared off in red is the VSS wire that you have to cut and run a switch between. The purple wire is squared off in black, just ground this wire as stated earlier in the post.

thats it! you are done

SECOND WAY: If you choose to go this route you will still have to ground the purple wire that is squared off in black above. But instead of working with the VSS wire shown above, we will be working with a different VSS wire. This second method, if you choose to go this route, will allow you to work with the NAV, watch DVD, look at the 360/Front view cameras, and more.

Like i said before, ground the purple wire mentioned in the FIRST way. For the VSS wire we will be working with this harness.

Now, there is only ONE pink wire in this bunch. That is the VSS wire that you will put on a switch.

Hope this helps.

Elmo

Do you think this works for 2011 fx35 also this sounds dumb but how can you wire the switch to the vss ?

EDIT
I did the first method for 2011 now my video wont show at all and also my airbag is flashing as well as service engine soon please HELP! need advice !!!

Excellent Mod - Did Second Option

I can confirm it works on an 09 FX35 w/Nav & Tech package. I am noticing some strange behavior, can you PM me about what Option 2 affects? Thanks!!

after much stress n nail biting cutting and cuts and almost losing a finger i can confirm that this works with the 2011 with nav fo sure just watched despicable me thanks for the DIY

JD, if you can make the meet in April, we can do this to your car..

You mean May right? I've been contemplating on getting the kg technologies thing for $99, that way I wouldn't have to worry about a button either or pressing the OK. I'm in no hurry though because then it might need sodering to the board....just learning and taking it easy, but yes one day :smile (2)::tup:

I printed ur instruction and went with the 2nd method and couldn't be happier since there are more advantages. Thanks for the info, the only problem is the blinking airbag light. But that is a common thing right after this mod right? I'll try the ecu reset later.

I did have blinking as well, but after reset it is gone. But my airbag off light is on :-( for passenger. What about yours? Any other problems you noticed with this mod?

Heys.. I'm new here and just got me an fx35 for a few months now.. Now I was following this DIY and it's something I want to get done however after further reading thru someone had mention that the wiring lay out was change from 09fx and 10fx. I have a 10fx35. Does anyone have the update on the wiring and steps to make this DIY work for a 2010 fx35 non-nav. Thanks

Have anyone went with mod version #2 to a dealer for service?

Were they able to pull up any error codes from ECU or ABS module or anything?
