VQ35DE FX35 Sea Foam

Last week, seafoam'ed my fx (26K miles) when the gas tanked showed 50miles remaining, dumped a full bottle into the gas tank only. Just burned it and didnt even have the distinctive smell as I was expecting. :smug:

APS, yeah. I'm hoping to get my HFC's on tomorrow then head up to an exhaust shop and finally get it installed right haha. Needs a hangar on the drivers side pipe, as well as something in the middle. to keep it from sagging.

The more I read about Seafoam, the more it scares me. People say it clogs up your spark plugs, so maybe I'll have to replace those afterwards also.

I already plan on dropping the exhaust from the headers because people said it can clog up cats. If I had the stock cats on when I did it I would probably just leave it on though. Just don't want to risk hurting the HFC's.

we'll watch the posts about failed engine components in a couple of years...

Who can confirm the long-term effect this has on your engine?

Seems like everything else out there - the opinions split 50/50. I would never do this type of thing voluntarily.

I used a bottle of K-Seal stuff on my overheating FX - but ONLY because I had to.

hello can anyone enlighten me on where the vaccum line is for the 05 fx45?
i bought sea foam only to have it in my trunk cuz i couldn't find the nipple looking thing.... do 45 have plenum? any pic will be helpful

Can anyone help me with this question...
I have 150k on my 05 FX. Every thing is original. No serious maintenance issues engine/transmission wise. My question is: is it safe to seafoam at this mileage? I dont want to break or ruin any fragile parts at this high of mileage.

Why would you want to run this if you made it to 150k without any issues. If I were you I would live by the old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

I hear what you are saying but I would be worried about the 'what ifs' from doing something like this. I would fear that it would clean off carbon deposits and the junk would be floating around in there somewhere. At 150k I would not risk it.

is sea foam good to use for newer cars too? I thought people just used it when guys would store it for winter?

I currently use seafoam before every oil change, 50% in the crankcase and 50% in gas tank.

*bump*

just wondering... is it safe to sea foam my vehicle using the Intake Manifold Plenum method even though I have a Oil Catch Can installed that runs between the PCV and the plenum? Was unsure if i should uninstall the catch can first and then sea foam.

Thanks!

PCV and Plenum or PCV and intake? Either way you should be safe using the nipple because it is in vacuum while the car is running.

Use at your own risk for the Vk45DE (FX45), but here is my 10 second MS Paint DIY.

Nice contribution Ed. As I recall, many have ask where to let the Seafoam into the crankcase on the VK. :top:
