Bringing this back...
(posted this on .org too)
My second set of Eib*tchs spring snapped! Same front passenger side.
Story...
Wife this morning pulls FX out of the back lot and hears a metal clank noise...both my wife and daughter has no idea what happened.
Wife goes out and sees the broken spring piece on the ground, picks it up and pulls the car onto the driveway.
I come out and she tells me a part of the car fell off, I look on the passengers seat and low and behold...a broken spring!
I try to slowly pull out into the street, but within 50 feet I had to stop and turn around.
My wife had to walk my daughter to school which is a half mile away.
I immediately call TireRack and explain the situation, explaining this is the second time that this has happened.
I have them pull up my previous information, but their records only go as far back as the replacement order.
The CSR (Maggie) is sending the information to Tech Support and they will determine the warranty coverage.
I made a request that I don't want another replacement with the Eibachs, but with the H&Rs instead...I feel that this product is unsafe.
I'm now waiting to hear back from TireRack.
The FX is my only source of transportation and I'm currently unemployed.
I'm hoping that TireRack will agree in replacing the Eibachs with the H&Rs and have them shipped put ASAP. I will then be able to have them swapped out by the end of the week or this weekend.
We here in Boston are expecting more snow (about 12 inches) tonight through tomorrow, so it might look like a "snow day" off of school for my daughter tomorrow.
The other scenario would be to have my stock springs installed ASAP and then swap them back out when the replacements arrive. The only problem with that will be the cost of having the install done twice...I don't have the $$$ for it.
I can't take it to Infiniti dealer...they won't cover it since it is an aftermarket part. Plus they will charge an arm and a leg for the service!
I hope that Auto Haus (local speedshop) will be able to do it and their cost will be minimum damage to my wallet.
Does anyone know if Infiniti Roadside Service will tow my FX to the shop or only to the closest Infiniti Service?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
