They're Here!

Now I know it was stated that I would need at least 20mm spacers to pass the calipers...correct?

Over stock 06 calipers, you'd need 15mm min to clear the stock wheels. Can't say exactly how much you'll need for your wheels..

Justin quoted me $850 for the front brake kit, and about the same or lower for the rears. He could not give me an exact price for the rears because he is waiting for the machined part that Turbo talked about in his writeup, but definitely lower than $2K out the door. He is going to call me in the morning with the measurement and a pdf so I can see what or how far its going to stick out on my wheels. Also on another positive note these will be ready to bolt on at any shop, no mods needed for the bolts.

1) The rears WON'T be plug and play. Justin needs to talk to Joe to get a slap on the wrist. You'll at least need Turbo's ball joint adapters and you'll probably need some other bolts.. Read up on Turbo's post.. And talk to Joe, not Justin.. It looks like Justin doesn't know shit.

2) So far what Turbo said and Joe agreed was that rears would be more expensive than fronts. $830 is what I paid for the fronts and they were mostly plug and play if you don't count in the cut bolts.

3) I might be a little drunk but did I say that it looks like Justin doesn't know shit? Talk to Joe & pm Turbo for better details.

LOL...The part that I mentioned about Turbo post is the ball joint, I just forgot the part name. Justin says that they made some improvements to the product, so that mods will no longer be needed. The fronts will be plug n play, but the rears need the ball joint that they are waiting for from the machine shop and he said that it will work once they have that part. Now I can only state what he said, but he is calling me in the morning...lol. Im cracking up at your drunk comment. I called twice, and Joe was out at lunch or just could not be found when I called. Tomorrow I will definitely reconfirm everything with him and Joe. Thanks

yeah, joe told me that he might be turning this over to someone named justin. think he's done some of the retrofit stuff on the z guys, think he owns a z too, or maybe was a g?

he's mistaken on the rears though, the rears need the calipers rotors pads & brake hardware kit just like the fronts do, & yeah they are a little cheaper than there front counterparts, BUT I think he's not realizing that the rears also need backing plates & knuckles... the knuckles are over $250 list each, even with there nice discount there still going to be more expensive than the fronts, I've done a Z & the Z does not need the knuckle, think justin is thinking it's the same... joe was supposed to have me talk to justin, I'll try to call him tommorow, be nice to get something togeather & out there for you guys...

Yeah, probably good to get everyone on the same page. I explained to Justin that Im worried about the caliper clearance issue and he talked about a template as well.

just spoke to justin, he says that he did tell you that the brakes themselves are a little cheaper than the front BUT also said that there def are add'l parts necissary too...

discussed a few things with him, hopefully he's going to sort out his end & these rears will be available soon, I told him about the bolt issues & about the banjo bolt length issues too, he also noticed that the aftermarket brake lines include shorter banjo bolts ,but he didn't fully realize weather it actually still bottomed or not on his install, he just tightened them & they don't leak, but if the bolt bottoms & deforms the end even a little it can impede fluid flow. the problem is the akebono's are not really designed for a banjo bolt at all, they are designed for & use a flared hard line on the oem install, luckily there is a flat boss & enough thread engagement with the correct banjo fitting for it to still work, but the bolt length is critical, too long & it'll bottom, too short & danger of stripping the threads on install or worse, falure in use... he's going to look into these few things, took my # direct & at this point he's going to be my go-to guy instead of joe from here on out... hopefully soon we'll be there... I'm really trying to get this put togeather...
