03-05 chrome window sill trim?

oh i didnt know about that. im talking about a group buy for the OEM chrome trim from the guy at infinitipartsusa.com
Oh... THAT one... yeah did that ever go through? To get the real-deal at a discounted price would be worthwhile, but to try and make a knock-off, you're bound to run into problems...

From the group buy you're referring to:

Guys....

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but we had a price increase in September and October. I can no longer honor the $860 price. The best price I can do now is $920 shipped, and I can't guarantee that I can hold it past the 31st of October. We have been seeing very consistent price increase from Infiniti now for the past 6+ months. I do apologize...

Would anyone be interested in this? The 2006's have this standard. The problem is, if you have a 03-05 and want this, your only choice is to buy it from Infiniti and it's around $600. I may be able to make this aftermarket at a much lower price. Just wondering if there is any demand for it.

Jason has not been around much so assume he is not following this topic anymore?

The USD 600,- was for the set without the two rear glass moldings.
The price for this set on infinitiusa is USD 452,- today.
Link removed, need at least 10 postings to put down an link

I believe most of us want the complete 10 piece set and that was USD 920,- shipped at the time (groupbuy on org).

Here is the link:

My 06 is starting to fade now too...theres gotta be some practical and affordable alternative out there....i was thinking about looking into the chrome door molding things that attach via double sided tape...although I am not sure that they will bend to fit the curves of the windows.

Don't you have warranty on a 2006? We (in Europe) will have our first dealers early 2009 but I don't expect much help for imported cars

getting the trim replaced under warranty appears to be hit and miss....i have not yet attempted to get it replaced under warranty yet....im still waiting for them to look even worse to ensure that they do replace them.

I take my FX to Metro Infiniti for services and a lot of us from 626 go there - do a search on Metro or Cheryl. Cheryl takes really good care of us from :iS:.

Is it known what kind of plastic are these trims are made of? Assume there is something on the inside but I have not taken anything off yet.
And is the black layer actually paint or is it something else?

I think it's a plastic clearcoat on top of a black plastic base, & moisture eventually finds it's way into the clear & the clear fades, leaving a faded looking trim. the clear isn't geting loose or cracking or peeling, so these can be painted on top of, covering up the faded plastic clearcoat.

thats probably what Ill end up doing if I cant get mine replaced under warranty...its too bad it isnt like the bad triangle window trim...

Please let us know the results because my paintshop here says it can't be done.

more like they dont want to deal with it....its a very small strip to shoot with a gun and one would spend more time masking things off than actually spraying....it might actually be easier to shoot with an aerosol can if you want to just to paint it black....but yea to colormatch would be a pita....
