Any Bike Riders Out There?

Andrew, I was actually going to tell you that I currently use the Garmin Edge 500 and maybe you can get that. I plan on getting the 800 with the color touch screen and navigation eventually, but the 500 is really nice little unit, more than adequate for the average rider. Don't know if you saw this pic in my Facebook Cycling album, but here is a screenshot of what the stats look like and what you can expect. This is a 40 mile ride I did this past Thanksgiving.

Current bikes are a Giant TCR TT (it's the same frame that the T-Mobile team road in the TdF a few years back) w/ 60mm carbon wheels, carbon bars, saddle, cranks, etc. and Dura-Ace. I don't do much road riding anymore other than triathlons so I got rid of my road bike for this. Thinking about entering some time trials to see what it's all about.

The mountain bike is a KHS XC-904R, again from a few years back. Broke a frame (Mountain Cycle Zen) right outside of warranty so I got this to replace it. Mostly SRAM X0, Roval tubeless wheels, some weight weenie parts. I wish I had more time to ride it, but living in the city means the closest trails are 40 minutes away. So I maybe average one ride a month on this.

Got my dad a gift card to Village Cycle in Old Town for those in IL who may have heard of it. I THINK I am going to try and convince him to go for the Edge 800 but he isn't one to spend that kind of money on himself really so I hope my convincing is persuasive enough. Thanks again for the guys who helped out

Couple vids from riding today at a small park near my house. Not too bad considering it's Dallas and close to my house. Almost high-sided like a boss at the end of the second one. Peep the FX, too.

I've been riding bikes since I was a young kid. I own a Specialized rockhopper FXC, a Trek, a 1987 GT Pro Freestyle Tour that I restored fully, and a 2001 GT Performer.

Can we see you take your FX through that trail with your go pro video!? ;)

Haha I swear one time I saw tire tracks or something in the more open trails. It's crazy to think we used to run on those trails. I consider them decently technical for biking between the roots and drops.

Here's a vid I forgot to put it from a week ago. I've ridden this place 3-4 times now, and am a lot more comfortable. It had been raining a good bit up until that weekend, so the dirt was perfect. Had one of my better rides down this trail. I'm pretty sure I usually made this trail in like 15 minutes last time. I started my camera late though, maybe a minute after the start.

Also, apparently Vanilla Ice was out riding that day. :tongue (2):

Need to either pump up the back or drop the front on your fx. Or are you still living in it and got too much junk in the back? ;)

Nope, I think that pic came out weird. I'm not sure why it's so blurry either. Can't adjust it now though, only when home. I wish I could drop it for AutoX in a couple weeks. I think over the summer, pending what I do, I want to slam it and AutoX it.

I almost crashed a couple times in that last vid. I went off the trail the first time to get out of that guys way, then right after to check my rear brake. I know one time I almost got bucked off the pedals, but couldn't tell in the vid. And then I rode off one time on accident, and a couple more times trying to fix the camera. :laugh.:

I managed to hit a lot more jumps this time. They always look worse riding up to them, so I just went for it on a couple and they turned out okay.

I think I'm going to do a race in 2 weeks since it's a Sunday, but I have Monday off. Should be fun to see how I do.

Haha, that vid is kinda awkward. I've seen vids with guys having a boom attached to their helmet. It does look pretty cool.
