Warming Up

I'm the kind of guy that sometimes I'm throwing it in gear before the starter even stops spinning, not such a big deal on modern cars, but yeah, likes been said, don't get on it hard for the first few miles/minutes, both for the motor AND for the tranny... when it's freezing outside I'll let it run a little bit longer, but even then 1-2 minutes is enough to start to drive, just easy. if you go beating it ice cold then you can break something, but otherwise it will warm up as you drive easy to...

Modern engines don't need to get warmed up first. Just start driving right away but take it easy until the engine is warmed up properly.
I have heard that and I go by this every time. I just drive like a granny and right about at the speed limit, if not a lil less, until I see the temp needle move from being pegged low.

ya, those BMW M cars have something on their tach where it lets you know when you can get into the high revs. pretty cool looking. it lights up yellow for the RPM's you shouldnt go into yet.
That's f'in badass. :ehh:

i feel guilty when i don't warm up fully and i leave to go somewhere, happens sometimes, but mostly i fully warm, i love the sound of the start up on cold mornings and the smoke coming out of the exhaust especially it being dual exhaust

Go to your User CP and go to edit signature and you can put pretty much whatever you want underneath.

OT- Where you @ in Jersey Mikefx3508? Maybe we should have an east coast meet sometime soon before it gets really cold.

check out my avatar pic, that's where i'm at. what about you?

When I bought the FX the dealer advised me to warm the engine fully. He said these engines need to be fully warmed up before hitting the road. I didn't know if he was talkin bull but I've always fully warmed up from day one.
