What's the exact proper way to warm up a car when it's cold like (18 degrees outside) i normally warm up my FX until the RPM is exactly at 1000. How would i know when it is fully warmed up?

Bro you being having your FX for a while.. there is a distinct sound when its warmed up... you wont miss it.... just listen carefully for it. its a more synchronize sound, at the beginning its kind of loud.. but when its warmed up its a smooth sound like the car its apeace with it self... i know exactly when mine its warm....

oh, i usually just looked at the RPM until it's 1000 and even below. i know what sound you're talking about, and during that sound more smoke usually comes out on cold mornings, but i like to make sure it's fully warmed before i leave because that's one of the number one ways to shorten a cars life, short warm-ups.

Go to your User CP and go to edit signature and you can put pretty much whatever you want underneath.

OT- Where you @ in Jersey Mikefx3508? Maybe we should have an east coast meet sometime soon before it gets really cold.

We need to work on this... it would be fun.. can just imagine the faces of people when we all roll out in our FX's..lol

Modern engines don't need to get warmed up first. Just start driving right away but take it easy until the engine is warmed up properly. Btw, I LOVE the bass baritone sound at the low rpms when it's cold. With headers, it's even deeper. I get dogs barking each time

ya, those BMW M cars have something on their tach where it lets you know when you can get into the high revs. pretty cool looking. it lights up yellow for the RPM's you shouldnt go into yet.

I usually start my FX right before I take my dogs for a walk so by the time I come back, she's nice and toasty inside.

Using full synthetic oil helps since it resists thickening on cold days.
I usually wait at least 30 sec to a min to let the oil slosh around then take it easy until it's warm.

i assume mine will be warmed up enough after the drive down my alley or out of my neighborhood. i dont push it until then, and its a good 2-3 min drive.
