John, I want in on a custom order - instead of black inside, color match my paint - laser red? Keep everything else identical. I'd pay double what you are asking.

doc, yours are up front first set... & yours & rubares are first up for final assy, should happen this week I hope... I'm sure turkey day will be headlight day for me...

& phantom, that's just the garage... you should see the basement  what you can't see in the picture cause it's off to the right of this shot, but I have my spare set of 22" assanti's stacked up there too... my wife is ready to throw me out but she can't, I pay the mortgage  actually had a tiff with her just a few weeks ago... seems my madness was consuming too much of the basement so I had to scale back a bit to keep the peace... she wants the basement redone for a nice place for my kid to hang out while I want it to be an FX junkyard, but now the areas I have are just overcrowded & makes production even tighter... I winded up clearing out some of the area I've consumed & started ripping out the ceiling & walls for the remodel to appease her, ahhh, more work ....

jumbo, gotta finish my commitments here before even taking anything else on but what you want with body color is doable & would look hot... you got patience?

dude i wouldnt mind hanging out in a fx junkyard. Id have a blast haha

haha I second that! Hey, you know what you can do...get an VQ engine and make a nice glass table using the pistons and block as the stands, and the projectors as pot lights!! Use the grills as ventilation ports...use the seats as electric theatre seats....lol!

hmm, well in a month or 2 I will have a spare vq engine from my fx, but was gonna just scrap it  luckily my new motor isn't at the house or I think I'd be in even more trouble

I don't know what to say. John, you can probably build another FX with just a bit more stuff, 2010 Summer project?

I am so excited to see those lights. The work done is just amazing. Is there a set for me in those pictures? (I took over Toncruse's spot on the list)

yes brother, your in. I'll pm you with details & whatever soon but don't worry, you are in this batch

"This Batch".........leading the community at large to believe there will be a "second coming"?!!!? In that case should we Fed Ex our first born to the shop or home address? Seriously, when you dream at night (assuming you sleep) do you see headlights or paddle shifters? :)

this batch means this batch... haven't said anything about any other batch yet, I gotta live through this batch first  I would either have to come up with an easier way of doing things or limit to one custom set at a time after this... exploring possibilities of easier way to build but no promises yet...

& no, when I sleep I dream of 1,000 hp in my fx & drifting it ken block style, then beating up on c5's & m3's on the track

I can dig that dream.

Damn John, you're inspiring me to do things like this on my own... I don't know if you've heard of CiN CiTy DeSiGnZ or whatever wacky NaMeZ they have now, but they're in some pretty steep trouble and everybody's hating them now (having peoples' core headlights for 6-10 months at a time). Evo X headlights aren't like FX headlights, they're still $500-1000 each side!

That being said I might use your wealth of knowledge displayed here to try this out for myself since the Evo market is wide open for these

Anyhow, just wanted to say thanks for taking us through the entire process. I'll let you know if I end up going head first into the plastic molding and how it turns out. It's looking like most likely Spring when it's not so cold out and I can find some free space to set up shop.

that's why I didn't want to take anything from anyone really, you start taking things from people you have to turn them around reasonably quick, your in debt to them, bite off more than you can chew & instead of having a ton of money you have a ton of pissed off customers.

in the end it's not how much you can get in, it's how much you can get out. good thing to remember. see this a lot in my business too. some guys will take in whatever they can whenever they can instead of scheduling it or even turning work away at times when there at capacity because there afraid of loosing the job, then wind up with cars that sit in the lot for months & everything is overdue & backed up, tell the customers one thing then have it take way longer, then eventually rush the cars out last minute. in the end not only are they not making more money but there also disapointing many & ruining there reputation at the same time. I try to avoid that. someone can hate me because I don't have the time to take on there job, but this is way better than having someone hate me because I took on there job & then didn't live up to my promises.

ok, latest update...

headlight housings & projectors just about there, bezels just about there... I've been trying to get all the clears cast so there all ready for assy but now, the latest word on the clear corners is that in use there starting to loose there clarity & take on an almost brownish tint... bert tells me his are almost beige at this point & only look white again when the lights are on... this is something that I never realized would be a concern, but after hearing from bert about this in his headlights I did a bunch more research & talked to a few people about this, including a materials supplier & am learning that there are big differences in casting resins when it comes to this... some resins will turn brownish from the heat & UV exposure... well after much research I found another resin which should be way better for this... instead of giving up I'm going to have to redo all the clear lenses... all of the ones I've done already have turned into a huge waste of time & materials... I'm trying to salvage the existing mold & also working on making another even better mold too, this time with platinum cured silicone instead of tin cured that I've been using up until now...

all of these pictured here, plus the ones already sent out to cali are all no good & a waste of materials & time... it's a shame too because they lok so beautiful, but there also useless for there intended application at this point

all projector housings built & ready to pop the projector lens in...
