no problem , probably another week or 2 before I start preparing for final finishes & different options for each...

have done a bit of work with these here & there past week, getting closer, tommorow I'm cracking open another 6 sets of donors to start to prepare assy...

as far as another batch, hard to say, let's see how these go for me & best I can say is maybe, probably, maybe, more than likely, maybe

someone asked about clear corners? I'm not crazy about the solutions for this so far, if I cut these out of clear diffused stock they look less than perfect. one solution is a translucent silver overlay I use that looks cool over these & still lights up amber.

I also bought some mold making silicone & a few mold making supplies, I might be able to cast real clear corners from a mold of the original reflectors, gonna play with it a bit...

Ionno, I think these clear corners are nice looking...

those are the ones I'm talking about, cut from light difuser panel, home depot/lowes type... I guess they really aren't so bad, but to me, for some reason, when I look at them I see home depot/lowes home made, rather than perfect, again, there not bad at all, just personally I'd rather see something nicer, I think they cheapen it a bit too me, maybe to the average joe they do look great...

not charging extra to set these up for the hid's now, I think that makes them nice. I want to build all shields in & have these ready to accept & work well with hids, but I'm not including the actual hid kit. you can get your own set of hid's like you would for your fog lights, plug them in & you got dual hid. your choice weather you want a 70 set of ebay cheapos or a 2 something set of mtecs or whatever. your choice.

can use your reg stock dtrl bulb, your led dtrl bulb or a hid set for 9006 bulb, fits the opening perfect....

one cool thing is normally if you go 8k bulbs you loose a good amount of light. with these, dual 8k bulbs will give you even more light than the stock 4.3k's of normal single projectors... 100% more light, minus a smaller percentage of loss due to higher kelvins, still equals friggin bright headlights, & the cut off shields keep them usable & not blinding..., I had mine with twin 4.3's & it was incredable the amount of light they give, really a performance enhancement

more progress, one room in my basement is now officially a headlight factory:laugh:

The lights are great, but I have a question about the brightness. I know I can go with an Headlight and DTRL, but with the 4300, you said you had great lighting with basically 4 headlight vice 2. I have already bought the 6000 D2S HID bulbs. Im wondering if doubling that up will be too much, don't want to blind anyone or appear to be on High beam. Thanks

I would suggest for you since Indian Head is at the end of the world...lol. The cops around here don't have a budget, so they will stop you for anything. After some thought will probably just go with the Headlight and DTRL anyway.

John roughly by when these lights will be done.. Need to calculate some things..

I'm hesitant to give an exact time yet, I always think it's going to be easier & quicker than it really is so my time estimates suck. I have a lot invested into these & I want to get them done, but I'm not going to finish them till I get them the way I want them, let's just say were still weeks out at least

ok, our fx headlights are so cool because they are very bright, but they are also cool because even though there bright, they have a very definate cut off line, so anything above the cut off will NOT be blinding, you don't blind anyone coming down the block because of this cut off, if they were laying in the road however your lights would look very bright & blinding as you ran them over though. you don't blind anyone with 2 of these projectors in stock config., & assuming there the same you also won't blind anyone with 4, 6, or even 8 of these projectors.... unless you wanted too

sticking a set of HID's in your fogs will be more brighter & blinding than these really, there not designed for hid's really, & with hid's they look really bright, these headlights will look normal

it's all about the aiming & cut off, THIS is the final thing that I am working to fully develop. originally I was setting this projector up to be a dummy, to have the look of my headlights, but not really the same function. my own dual projector light set uses 2 full projector housings, there both bi-xenon low/high & both motorized to raise & lower from the dash. my own headlights are super bright as far as the way they light up the road, but still not blinding at all. I'm trying to get that same look with these lights now with hid's. they won't be bi level of motorized, but I'm making them fully functional as an hid projector at least

don't compare this to some kid sticking a pair of hids in a light that was never designed for them, that will be stupid bright & blinding. I'm working on the optics & shielding to get these to work nice & not be blinding, even with 4 hid's it won't be blinding, but, I could see the possibility of someone thinking your high beams are on just for the fact that 4 lights are lit maybe, but my car never looked like high beams were on with 4 of these, it's just brighter on the road, not above the cut-off...

btw, 6k's are less bright than the 4.3'ks, 8k's are even less bright than that. usually going to these bluer bulbs ment having sucky light output as the light output goes down as you go up in the k's, but not with these. you could run 8k's or more & still have a nice bright view of the road because of the dual projectors

Same here - Im kicking myself in the ass - I have a brand new set of lights sitting in the garage also.

don't worry, once I get this batch done out & delivered I'll do what I can to hook the rest of my brothers up, just can't add to the batch I'm doing right now to keep it managable...

John,

what projectors and shrouds are you using for the DTRL replacement? are they from another set of FX HL?

yes, each set of headlights I build are built from 2 sets of fx headlights, the donor projector & shroud come from a set of fx headlights

lol . . youve gone mad!

who me?

hey man, you haven't seen the tailights I was playing with? the tailights are a real pain in the ass... the outers are not too bad but the inners area real nightmare. I practiced opening them on several set's of red inners, but then bought a set of clear inners & still got a blemish upon opening them. there very hard because you have to cut them open & then the whole cut & seem will be visable when done, very hard & tedious to get perfect... these are from another thread... not really doing these, too much trouble so far, maybe eventually
